Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We done IT!

We are finally officially FULLTIMERS!

biggrin

We moved off our property to Twin Lakes Resort in Chocowinty NC.  Its only 15 miles from the house, but this makes showing the house alot easier.  Our lab, Sallie, loves meeting new people which makes showing the house difficult when this 85lbs of energy meets you at your car door.  So we moved on down the road.  It was uneventful except for the lightening, the rear stabilizer that stripped in the gearbox, and the heavy downpour when I pulled out of the driveway..doh .  But we're set up, no other issues to deal with, animals fed, drink in hand, good music..... life is good in the trailerhood ..smile

Yep, we know how that feels except our move while the house was on the market was literally across the street to our neighbor's extra RV parking area, one of our primary reasons for moving wasn't the 85 lb dog, it was the feline who would love to escape when the doors are opened, to say nothing of the cat hair she loves to leave on her favorite nap locations.

Hope your house sells quickly, our agent ended up with 2 more listings after our neighbors saw how quickly our house sold. Our house sold quicker than we expected so the good problem we have is to finish emptying the garage and storage area, almost everything else is done. 17 days.........

While we are still wannabes, I don't let a minute go to waste with regard to planning and looking forward to our future.  Lately, I have been putting together a "plan" for when our time comes.  My plan is to, first, empty the entire house/garage of all of the 'garbage'.  Next, we want to visit the manufacturing plant of the RV we currently have in mind.  Next, order the RV.  While the RV is being built (6 +/- weeks?), come home and sort through everything and put aside what we plan to take with us.  Next, and because we are not allowed to have garage/yard sales, I want to invite friends and family over for a silent auction for the larger items, and just sell all of the small stuff (pay me what you think your 'pile' is worth), with the understanding that some of the larger items, pictures, etc. will need to remain to show the house.  The "winners" in the silent auction will be notified when they can pick up their stuff!  Then, once all of that is done, I want to list the house.  I don't think we will have a problem selling it because we are in the country, with all the city amenities, on an acre of land surrounded by ravines that go out to the river just behind us, and lots and lots of trees and forest-like scenery, in a gated/golf course community, on a cul-de-sac.  Anyway, by that time I want to be "living" in our RV somewhere close by so we don't have to make the bed every day, keep everything tidy and picked up etc. to show the house.  Then, when the house closes, we will be FREEEEEEEEEE!  So, as mentioned above, we also plan to live in our RV while the house is on the market.  This should help in reducing the stress, so I think!

Did I miss anything?  confuse

One thing to consider in addition to your silent auction idea would be to hold an online estate auction. We are finding that to be a great way to unload the furniture.

Not sure I want to deal with anything online.  DH and I have talked about this and have decided that whatever does not sell, we will donate to a children's home or some type of ministry who could use the remainder of our "stuff".  The money is not important to us and to be able to help out someone in need is AWESOME!  My mother has always said, "When something you have no longer serves a purpose or has lost its luster (to us), pass it on to someone it will bring joy to!"  A-men, Momma!

Our home ended up for selling for more than we originally thought we'd ask (or get) so it was a happy outcome for us as well. We're happy to hear this happening for other dreamers too!

Your dreams can come true, it can happen to you.......

Contract signed!
It was on the market for 20 days. We'll come out ahead but not like with multiple bids.

Ahead is good.  We had our home on the market for 3 years and took a loss, although the loss of the mortgage payment let us recoup that loss in a few months with the payment we didn't have to make.

Congratulations.  Now, start preparing to do some traveling.

Whoo Hoo! Now, get the house totally empty and get on the road. Oh yeah, that emptying out of the house is more time consuming than we ever imagined and we've been getting rid of "stuff" since January. We're getting there, 8 days and counting until it has to be empty..

Listed our building (we live on 2nd floor of a historic bldg on our town square) 3 weeks ago. Retiring at yearend. RV purchased and loaded with everything we plan to keep except items using daily. It is exciting and scary at the same time, but im soooooo ready!

Friends and family cant believe or understand why we want to do this. Last night we were at a party and at least 3 people asked about our plans and then made comments like, you can do this for a year and then come home. Or there are always houses for sale or asked what we are going to do when we get tired of it. They just dont get it!

Oh and the best question... where will you live if your bldg sells before you retire? Duh!!! In the trailer!

Just praying this building sales!!!

I love it when plans come together. Grams your building sounds terrific and bet it sells soon.

I love the people who think we're all so adventurous to just "go" and some who are so genuinely envious (in a nice way) and then the look of almost fear on others faces as they comprehend you're leaving the home, the neighborhood and the known for the unknown.

RV'ers are so terrific for the most part. We had a lovely Asian couple check in late yesterday with two little ones in one of those Cruise America Class C's. I was walking our pup when I saw him pull out a sewer hose with no connections on either end and a very confused look on his face. I said, don't do anything, please just wait and called my DH and he came right over and lent the guy hose connections and helped him set up. Poor guy said he had no instructions when he rented the rig. I had visions of those black tank stories we've read about.

Congratulations on the quick sale of your house! That must be a really great feeling to have that all over with.
