Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Big But Beauty!

I picked up my new truck on Monday!  It is a GMC 3500 SLT DRW in white.  We will have no problem with weight with this set-up.  I thought about single rear wheel for awhile but the trailer weight is close to the max for that model and thought it best to have a larger margin for safety's sake.  I'm thrilled to be that step closer to the road which will happen this fall.

Congratulation's, we have the same truck, ours is a 2012 GMC 3500HD SLT DRW that is Summit White outside with Gray interior. We do not have the Aluminum Wheels or Navigation system.

We have pulled our 5er with it about 8,000 miles now and have not had any problems with the truck and it is a real pleasure to drive.

Much better than the 2500HD SRW we had before it!

First of all, congratulations on the new truck.  The trucks with duals will make the towing experience a much more stable experience.

Be sure and watch your clearance between your fifth wheel's nose and the top of your pickup's bed rails.  GM raised those within the last couple of years and some folks have had to raise their fifth wheel hitch to get more clearance.

Some have also seen the need to raise the trailer itself in some way so that the raise in the fifth wheel height will still allow the trailer to be towed level.

I was worried about bed clearance when we changed from a 2007 Chevy "Classic" Body Style truck to the new Body Style 2012 GMC DRW.

In setting up our 5th Wheel hitch in the new truck, I had no height issues or problems, I did not have to raise our 5th Wheel at all or adjust the Pin Box Height to maintain clearance on the new truck.

Thanks for the advice. I will have the new Reese R20 hitch installed by the pros and they will set it up to tow properly with my trailer. I always check everything over when I have anything done by someone else. There is plenty of adjustment between the pin box and the hitch so we should be good to go.

This forum is always great for advice from the people who have been there and done that!
