Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Fuel Pump Speed

Have any of you noticed the pumps at the gas stations seem to run at a slower speed ?

I noticed this about 2 years ago when the gas prices approached $5.00 per gallon it seemed like the stations had turned down the speed on the pumps.

Are they trying to convince us we were getting more for our money ?  Just like the restaurants that began using plates or plastic trays with bulges in the center so it looked like we were getting more food.

Today I stopped to fill up my car and it took so long that I stopped before the tank was full so I wouldn't be late to work.  The tank is a 15 gallon tank and I was near empty.  I stopped after 3 minutes.  That's less than 5 gallons per minute flow rate.

The shower in my RV flows faster than that....

I have the opposite problem up here.....they kick on and pump so fast they kick out the safety constantly......wish it would pump slower.....filling the rig with 300.00 worth of gas in a couple minutes really breaks my heart and wallet......you would think they would come out and check the oil and wash the winshield , even throw in a free cup of coffee for that kind of money!!!!!

Guess the flow rate co-insides with the flowing cash rate of my wallet!!!!.....(real Fast)

I too filled up today, $100 almost filled it, it took about 5-6 minutes... The better (not good) news is that it was $3.81 a gallon.

It is a bit easier to get that last couple gallons when the pump is slow like at the RV isles of Flying J. We have had some $500 fill ups with our 150 gallon tank.

All this is to prove that with slow pumps, it is especially benefiial to remember to shut off the RV's engine before filling.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist that.
