Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We pulled the trigger today, after reading every article, book, blog, forum and looking at what seems like thousands of options, today I won $50 on a scratch off and considered that a good sign. We bought a 2013 Forest River Flagstaff Classic Lite 5-er. Every dealer in the Tennessee Valley knows us. By name. Im sure they will all be glad we finally bought something. *teehee*
Anywhooo.....myself, my darling fiance, and our four (yeah) dogs will be parting with all of the appliances and furniture we bought when we moved here from Missouri 18 months ago and becoming mobile. We still have jobs in Chattanooga, but there are many options around here. If we dont like one spot, we shall move to another!
Our kids are grown and gone, we have two houses in missouri that wont sell, we are renting this HUGE house in Ga, for two of us? What a waste of money! We want to be able to go on weekends, we work toooo hard all week to work on this house all weekend! We live together, ride to work together, and sit five feet apart all day. Downsizing should not be an issue for us.
The dogs will be a challenge......no opening the french doors and letting them out any more......but hey, we are up for it.
Mobile we go. I shall be relying on your sage advice often! Wish us luck!
Thanks! Just this morning someone offered to rent my house in Missouri. Yay.
Im sitting here staring at furniture. Wishing it would just go away. Guessing I should step away from the laptop and take pictures of stuff and start selling! Oh how I hate Craigslist.....I put an ad on there for a Trophy White Tail Missouri Deer Mount. Oh, the ridiculous creepy emails I got over that one. Guessing either "tail" or "mount" were not the right choices of words to use in the subject line.
I belong to a horse forum (yeah, we have two of those to find homes for too....) and over the years have met many of the members. Its always fun to meet people in person, hoping to run into some of the members here too!
Welcome to this great forum. Its obvious you're going to be a fun addition! Just a word of caution about the four (yeah) dogs. I know they are part of the family but be aware that many campgrounds limit you to two max. I'm sure you'll find some places, especially if you talk nice on the phone to the campground you want to stay in.
Enjoy your new RV.
Sherry

There is a KOA camp on the other side of Chattanooga that shows a fenced dog park for some off-leash fun. I emailed the owner and told him we have FOUR DOGS and two of them are German Shepherds. He responded, didnt say a word about the dogs, invited us to visit, gave me the 30-day rates. This is a good sign, he didnt say NO!!!
So we drove over there, went in to the office, told the very sweet desk clerk that we had emailed and she said that the response was from her son that owns the campground.
Said..........we have four dogs............she hopped up and down and clapped her hands. Not exactly the response I had anticipated. She asked what kind??!?! When I said German Shepherds, she said she and her hubby used to raise GSD's and LOVE them. She called him, he pulled up on his golf cart and I thought he was going to hop up and down and clap too! haha.
We found a great spot, pretty far away from the others and just across the gravel road from the dog area, close to all of the trail heads (15 acres of trails), and it is one spot that used to be two so we can actually park the car there. Close to the showers/bathrooms. The owners dad, sweet old guy, said there is a couple acres at the end of the park that is used for frisbee golf, we can let the dogs run down there. Wow. Talk about dog friendly! One of the other fulltimers there has THREE dogs in a 20' trailer. *gulp*
And, while we were in the office, we mentioned that we pick up our RV Tuesday and we are new at this and we instantly made bestest friends with a couple people that spent the rest of the afternoon giving us sage advice. I think my man is pretty excited to be helpful, all the guys we met were 70+, complaining about arthritis and other things, but being an electrician and all around maintenance type, he would love to help out where needed. Since we will have a whole lot of nothing else to do.
I had no idea there were so many demons lurking in Craigslist. I am starting to get a grip on which ones are scams and which are reals.
I have a collectible item on there, a girl emailed me about it and said she would like to buy it for her husband who has a brain tumor, it would cheer him. If I believed her story, I'd just GIVE it to her. It's sad to think someone would make up such a story.
Good luck to you too, Jim. Real estate is the least of my worries. Gotta find homes for two horses and a cat!
I dont Allow E-mails on Craigslist.....I have them call my disposable Tracfone Cell #......less scams and more sales ...if they call and there number is blocked I dont answer it.
