Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
New to the forum. Debating on FullTiming...Going to the NewMexico Rally in March to learn more. My wife Christina and I have thought about it off and on for years. We don't have kids (just one hairy child) and no ties to an area. I got out of the Marines about 15 years ago not to move around but have moved many times since. Therefore we think fulltiming Rving might be a good option for a season, maybe 5 or 10 years. We are looking at starting in 2015 or 2016.
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. Let me first thank you for your service to our country.
While I've not yet been able to attend any of the RV Dreams rallies, I've heard from quite a few that there is a lot of information to receive by going. Being in Colorado, you can find it easy to drop down to New Mexico for that rally. (Plus, you can get away from all that Colorado pot smoke........kidding.)
Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind as you will find folks here that have experience in just about every kind of RV that there is. Don't ever think that a question is "dumb" as the only dumb questions are those that don't get asked, and thus don't get an answer.
Enjoy the research and planning and check out all the RV shows you can and visit all the RV dealers that you can. Look at each unit as a home and consider how normal everyday activities will be affected by the room and configuration fo the RV.
Glad to have you as part of the family.
Terry

Thanks all. I look forward to seeing the truth of all the encouragement. It is the "no regret" that is the part that holds us back at this point. And of course getting rid of the stuff is my wife's challenge.
Hi & Welcome. The opportunity to attend the rally is one that many of us who now full-time wish we might have taken. Like many others, running our business didn't allow us to take the time, so we learned all we could from these pages and archives. I encourage you to search these as well. However nothing is better than being with those who have done it! The issue of "stuff" and things that tie one to a particular place or life needs to be sorted properly, of course. We got very lucky. We decided to start the process by trading in our TT for a new 5er we felt we could F/T in,and bought it. Then we listed the house a year before we projected to hit the road, due to bad market, as advised. The house sold in three weeks to a cash buyer, for 97% of the asking price and since the guy was getting divorced, he bought everything in the house, down to the dishes, etc. Since we had the new rig and fully outfitted it prior, we moved to our favorite campground nearby and that was it. We had a business to sell, too and the economy made that problematic,so we operated it for two more school years, took off each summer in the rig, and are now back for the final school year. In June we will sell the equipment for whatever we can get, sell a company truck, and hit the road for good. Point is once you feel comfortable with the concept, the rest can happen, even quickly, and if there are any snags, the flexibility allows you to adjust. That is how it has come down for us.

Welcome to the forum, you'll be great additions here. Just a note, it's never too late to go to a RV-Dreams Rally & you'll be surprised at what you learn even after being RVers for a couple of years. We'll go back for another one ay some point.
Richard, your story is amazing. Kind of like Howard & Linda's for selling the house furnished. Your thinking is right on, you can fulltime for a season or a year or 5 years or forever. It's YOUR call.
Thank you for your service and if you're retired military take advantage of the great RV campgrounds on mant military bases.
