Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
You may be wondering what is up with the subject line I chose. It is one of those situations where one dream must be realized before the second takes place. Forgive my vagueness on the first dream. It involves being diagnosed with an illness that hits you in the gut and puts a whole new perspective on life. I am keeping a positive attitude and doing the best with the cards that I have been dealt. With a lot of skill on the part of the medical team and some good fortune, I am hoping the next few months will produce a positive result.
Now for the fun dream! My wife and I began the process of researching RV's a few months back. We are leaning towards a class C motor home, but are still weighing the pros and cons of everything out there. We are flying to Chicago this is coming Friday to attend an RV show to get a first hand look at different types and models of RV's that fall within our price range. The plan is to get an RV in spring of 2014 and retire in 2015. We will keep our house for few years while taking extended vacations at different times of the year to locations where the temps are in the 60 to 80 degree range. If all is good, we will eventually sell the house and be full-timers on the road.
We have picked up a lot of valuable information from this forum and hope to be able to supply information from our end as well. We are rookies, so there will probably be more questions than answers from us.
Welcome and really wish you the best. Make sure you hang out in the class C's and visualize yourself doing things in them for extended times. We at first thought of a class C but most were pretty cramped inside.
Welcome.......and like ray said and you wil hear many times over........find the one that looks right to you.....sit down, move around and make sure it feels right.......
you are going to look at alot large and small and at some point you are going to find the one that is All of your needs and home.........take your time, its out there waiting on you and we are all here to help you through it

You will soon find that there are a lot of folks who have been or currently are in the same "health" boat as you, although they may be different diagnosis. You will also find that the folks here are very supportive of those having health issues. Just this last year, my wife, Jo, had to undergo a lumpectomy and a heart catheter test as a follow up to a suspicious reading at her last stress test.
Now, she is good to go and we both received a lot of support from the forum family here. All in all, regardless of which "dream" it applies to, you are in good hands here.
Terry

Welcome to the board, Scot! We are glad to have you. My husband and I are deamers, as well, and have not yet hit the road. We are caregivers for my husband's elderly aunt who lives with us. We gave up our lives and freedom since we began taking care of her 16 months ago. She lives with us. It's difficult when there are setbacks, but I'm keeping my hopes and dreams alive, and I hope you will, too. Most of all, keep the faith. We are counting on you and many on this board will be more than happy to send up prayers for you and your wife. After all, prayer is a mighy powerful thing!
