Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Buying a used camper from Cranky Ape Read this First!

again Im not there.......but it is an auction and everything you buy at auction should be inspected by the bidder prior to making a bid.....

they are selling something that is a buyer beware Item.........all representations at auction are as is where is

Im not sticking up for crazy ape....I do not do business thru them ......but even on ebay auctions ...Buyer beware no guarantees......craigs list ....same. used out of your neighbors driveway .......same

it is up to the buyer to cover there butt. if your not willing to gamble auctions are a bad place...

some people will buy a fixer upper and take a chance...
your insurance company will tell you this is how they dispose of them....they didnt pay someone to take it, they sold it to recoup there investment

NOTE;

This was taken from there Website.....insurance total loss.....they warn you up front

. Cranky Ape is the auction website for the Midwest Recreational Clearinghouse, L.L.C.They boast one of the largest indoor facilities for public auctions of insurance total loss, recreational auctions and bank repossessed equipment and vehicles

CrankyApe  listed my old camper for sale.  They stated it had minor water damage.  This camper was filled with sewer water and sludge, under water to above the frig.  Nothing in it was salvageable.  I have the photos.  Shame on Cranky Ape.  Right now there are a bunch of campers listed that were in the Fonddulac, Carlton flood of 2012.  Buyer beware!

Did you consign it to them or did the insurance company? Shame on anyone who did anything but salvage it if it was that bad.

Farmers  Insurance paid off the loan as it was only a year old.  I assumed it was sold as salvage.  Anything less would be a Scam at its worst.

PattiK you need to let Farmers Insurance know what's going on. You might also want to contact your state Insurance Commission about this, and definitely whoever issues titles in your state.

unfortunately its being sold at auction.......anything can be sold at auction with a salvage title....it would require a destruction title to remove it from use and not all states require destruction.

It has nothing to do with cranky ape selling it................an auction is an auction ....Buyer beware should be assumed before Bidding on anything

the insurance company probably sold it at auction for salvage themselves...........I have bought salvage units fix them and resold them after inspection

Lucky Mike, Would you put an ad stating minor water damage if you had been told it sat under 8ft of muck and mud that leaked and filled the inside as "minor water damage". It should be illegal. I will be contacting the Insurance Company on Monday.

some states require the Title to state the vehicle is salvage. This should apply to all States.

Good warning about how Cranky Ape markets their purchases though. I used to check out their site but haven't thought about if for a long time.
