Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Our First RV Christmas!

Well we hope everyone had a wonder Christmas and Happy Holidays this season. Now although this may sound a little out of the ordinary for most folks I am sure in the FT RV'er land this will not but one of the biggest dilemas we knew we would have is how are we going to decorate for the holidays without totally cluttering up the inside and still being able to enjoy?
We always had a big tree with hundreds of ornaments, the house was full of Christmas spirit. Sue would take a couple of days just to decorate the tree (after my 4 hours of hanging lights and putting on my two Giants and Yankees "Christmas" balls).
Well this year we got ourselves a "Charlie Brown" tree and proceeded to make up the rest.
Here is a link to our pics of the 'Tana decorated up to Sue's liking - http://s962.beta.photobucket.com/user/mybigboomer/library/First%20RV%20Christmas
Next year we are going to have to work on the exterior a little more!

Les

Well done... definite Christmas Spirit.

Like the garland around the slide out. Great way to use ornaments.

We had one of the blowup TT in our front yard but no snow.

Fun stuff...

Looks good.  But, now I see why you have that big box on the back of your truck.

You need a place to keep all those decorations.

Ray and Anne,

What a beautiful picture of your beagle. Our little boy Boomer, though no longer with us he loved Christmas and loved camping even more!

We did the garlands but love the ornaments on them. Didn't think of that! Found a 4' folding lighted tree at Target but I think I like the Charlie Brown ones better! Thanks for sharing.

I love decorating for Christmas in our S & B, but know that's not possible in an RV. My question is : where are you going to store these things when you take them down? (This year, I bought flat felt snowflakes from Target, I'm thinking I could use the suction cups to hold them in place) I'm thinking that they could go under the bed the other 10 months of the year)

I suppose the lights hanging from the awning could change colors for Christmas. Your RV is beautiful!!!

Thank you VictorianLady. Yes the dilema is storage. The inflatables store neatly in bascially 2 - 18" boxes. The lighted garland and ornaments take two boxes which are 18" x 18" x 36". Right now since we are fixed based while I still work FT we did get a small local storage unit but once on the road we are going to have to pair down a little bit more. We can still fit some stuff in the garage box on the truck even with the motorcycles in it. The key we have found so far is to limit ourselves with things that use to take up more room such as stocking groceries and cleaning products even though you get better deals at such places as BJ's and Costco. Now we buy on a weekly or as needed basis. We also us Space Bags for all out clothes so we change them out for the seasons. Really cuts down on the space required. We are still coming up with ways to find more storage and it is amazing how you learn to do without certian things.

This was our first year in our RV and full-timing.  It has been an adjustment but we eased into the holidays.  Spending Thanksgiving with some old and new friends in Gulf Shores and then Christmas and New Year's with Bill's family.  Not sure what will happen next year.

Ravenlotus there will be a Renaissance festival here in AZ - Arizona Renaissance Festival will be open every Saturday and Sunday, February 9, through March 31, 2013.  If you come this way let us know, we will be in Quartzsite until the end of February then coming back to Phoenix area after that.

Pieere, Trust me when I tell you it was a real test to find room for our stuff. Although we are still adjusting to that part of fulltiming, we will get there eventually. Thanks everyone for all your comments and wishing y'all a very Happy, Healthy, Safe and Prosperous New Year in 2013! Les

I wish we could go this year to the Renaissance festival in AZ this year. But Hopefully next year. Have fun Lorretta. If you happen to be around Ogden, UT in May you should check out the Renaissance festival here. If you do check out our booth Paranormal Oracle Boutique. Let me know you or if anyone out there reading this is out this way then I have a good recommendation of a RV park.

We really don't know where our travels will lead this year but if we are near UT around that time, we will make sure to let you know.  We will make the one in AZ when we get back from Quartzsite the end of February.  Perhaps we will meet down the road...........
