Glad to hear your numbers are starting to come down and fall in order........you will also find that they will very by region....not to mention boondocking........east coast normally will cost more and boondocking gets tough

Our original plan was to boondock 1 week a month average and to stay in one spot 1 week at a time before moving on. And to budget $700 per month for campground fee's. I think our first 2 or three months will hold a larger amont of boondocking due to our route. So maybe we will have banked some boondocking days for when we get out south and it will all average out for the year LOL!!

But waking up and looking out at the sunrise and having nobody within eyesight,, ok maybe a mile,, sure is becoming addicting.

We've decided that the fall of 2015 will be when we begin to FT. We are beginning to "weed out" gradually, put our home up for sale the beginning of 2015 and ----- hopefully be on our way.

Do you have some way of knowing where you will be boondocking so you can map out your journey inexpensively?

We have not been on the road long enough to have a rhyme or reason yet LOL!! And we don't pick our route around dry camping areas. But while researching an area if something comes up on www.rvparksreview.com for example we sure take in into concideration.

There are a lot of websites that are primarily for dry camping spots or low cost parking like http://freecampsites.net/ and others.

Get your national park pass. one time fee of $10.00. You get 1/2 price off on camping. This pass is also good for army corps of Eng. parks. Most campgrpunds are under $10.00 a night. Some are under $6.00 a night.

You're just a young "whippersnapper." I've had my pass since about 2009 and haven't been in a campground since. Everything just keeps interfering with us camping somewhere. In the one case where we stayed in a state park, the guy didn't even need to see the card to "verify" that I was old enough for a senior discount.

I get senior discounts all the time without asking for it. I have grey hair, so if the person is young they think I am really old.

At 72 they always asked me where the tour bus and the rest of the seniors are!!!! :>)

Heh, that's good Richard.

It reminds me of a couple we know at church that used to take those senior tours all the time and really loved them because of the companionship they got plus the the places they got to see.

THEN, they went on the tour from h*ll. The worst of the event was that the toilet facilities in the bus didn't work right and smelled all the time. The tour company didn't seem to want to change buses or fix the problem, so they had several days of smell and everyone got grumpy. So much for good comradeship, and they've not been on another tour since.
