Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hi, I am new here. My guy G and I are planning to head on the road next winter.  Our plan is to buy a fifth wheeler and leave it permanently parked at a campground in our town ( very reasonable rent) and shall spend from April to October here in New England in our town with our friends . When the RV park closes we shall head south in our smaller motorhome for further adventures until next spring.  I think we will almost full-timers in that we are giving up our apartment and going to use a mailbox service to handle our mail.  We are doing lots of research and appreciate any/all input/ ideas. We have both traveled/camped/ quite a bit but limited experience with RV.  We have some financial, health, concerns but I'm certain we can do it if we are disciplined and plan ahead. Susan,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  Your situation will be somewhat different than that of most of us, as you will have two RV's to use.  That would be interesting to say the least.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. We don't actually have any RVs yet. Starting to rethink that plan. Maybe will invest more $ and get a slightly larger and more reliable motorhome only. Originally it was my idea to simplify but seems to be actually more complicated . The forums have been very helpful .

Welcome aboard, SPF. Most of us go this direction to simplify, not complicate. However, we are at the same point in the process you are and agree that some of the initial planning and logistics are somewhat complex, at least conceptually. For example, we know that living full time in an RV will be less expensive than supporting a house but, when looking at the initial costs to make the transition it is sometimes difficult to see the savings. We began downsizing our stuff when we made the decision to go fulltime at retirement but, you sure can't tell it when you go in the garage. It takes some time and planning to make it happen. One thing I have learned is that most of the necessary actions don't take place until you have a date that you are going to pull the plug.
