Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Trilogy Vs DRV Tradition

I've been considering the Tradition by DRv vs the Trilogy. Both are about the same in cost. The Trilogy concerns me because of the R factor which I estimate can't be more than R-9 in the roof but seems to be better appointed than the Tradition. How does the Tradition stack up to other DRV lines?

i'm a newby to all this!

Doug,

First of all, welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  It is a great place for asking questions and researching for the purchase or maintenance of an RV.

You may have already seen them, but there have been a couple of threads that were about the Dynamax Trilogy.  One recent thread is good in that there are links to the previous thread about the Trilogy and to a second which is to my observations on my blog after looking at a couple of them. Rather than repeat what are in both of those threads and the blog entry, I'll just let you read those.

Trilogy Information

Previous to the Tradition, DRV Suites built a model called Select Suites.  Both the Select Suites and the Tradition are considered to be less appointed with amenities than the Mobile Suites and the Elite Suites.  They also have a smaller frame, with the Mobile and Elite having 15" triple-box frames and both the Trilogy and the Tradition having 12" I-beam frames.  With respect to the frames, a 12" I-beam would be the least that I would consider on an RV for full-timing.

When the Tradition was first introduced, I felt like it had fewer "amenities" than the Select Suite that it replaced.  However, the Tradition was introduced to compete with the Redwood.  However, in my research into the Redwood, I found it to have a 10" drop-frame, thus making it weaker than the Tradition's frame.

In honesty, we have a Mobile Suites, so my opinion may be a bit skewed, but on the Trilogy, I was concerned with the lack of a ladder, no separate LP tanks which could be removed for filling, and an inconsistency in basic amenities (like the water manifold and inputs for television) between their two models, even though they are of the same weight, length, and capacities of holding tanks.

Good luck with your research, and feel free to ask more questions.

Terry
