Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello from South Dakota

Welcome Les. You've found the friendliest forum dedicated to RV'ers. Congratulations on selling the S&B and going full-time. Not an easy thing to do with the economy as it is. Are you in S.D. now?  Winter in an RV is not an easy thing to do. What kind of preparations, if any, have you made to your Montana to manage the harsh environment?

Hello folks, Bigboomer (Les) here. Just signed up to this forum! We are also members of Escapees and MOC (Montana Owners Club). Why not another forum to glean more info from, heck you can never get enough knowledge! We became full-timers in August, selling our S & B and now loving the FT lifestyle. biggrinRight now we are fixed base due to my ongoing work commitments in the Northeast. I look forward to sharing our experiences and hearing about yours!

Les

Thanks Dan. Right now we are workamping in the Northeast (Poconos) while I continue my work commitments with my present employer so we are getting ready for a long winter season. We have fully winterized the rig with insulating the water lines, heat tracing the outside water source, etc. The camp we are in has winter water and full hook-ups so that should help. So far we have endured consistent nights in the 20's for a spell and all seems good. Montana has done a good job insulating the belly so the tanks should be good as long as we keep the furnace working. During the days we use the electric fireplace so not to burn the propane up and at night the furnace kicks on to keep the basement and belly heated. We also put the window film on all the windows to help with the drafts and condensation. I installed a dehumidifier to kep the humidity around 40 to 45% so it stays comfortable inside.

Les and Sue,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  From the looks of your rig and your comments, I suspect you will be in a position to be able to help others with questions.  Of course, we will welcome any of your questions as well.  Glad to have you as part of the "family."

I also like your avatar, and I use the one below on a shooter's forum on which I participate.  Jo even embroideried this image on the back of a couple of shirts/jackets that we have.

Terry,

That is a gorgeous piece of art Jo emblazened on your clothing. I always look forward to asking for and forwarding help as needed. As yourself and others pointed out that we in the RV community are "family" with common interests and goals. In the 12 plus years of planning our RV dreams to FT we have met many inspiring and down to earth folks.

Regards,

Les

Les & Sue:

Welcome to the RV Dreams forum and family. We learned a lot about full-timing from the great rallies and folks here. We started our adventure on 10/1, leaving from the poconos of PA. Now a bit farther south in Texas as we make our way to CA to workcamp. Like your Montana and set-up!

Thanks Laurie and George. We started our "Dream" 10/10 when we sold our S & B in NJ. We have been planning this for the last 12 years, taking ever so careful steps along the way and finally just said, "Ah what the heck...." Good luck on your adventures and safe travels to the west! We are expecting snow tomorrow....Brrrr, The Snow Meiser is here!

Welcome Les and Sue,

We're wintering in the Pacific Northwest and the low's this week are in the 20's as well. This morning as I write this it's 22 outside. The MH has been performing well in cold temp's.

We went fulltime 9/10/2012!

Welcome to the club.
