Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I will be taking my full time job with me when we go on the road.  I've tried several different blue tooth devices / headsets with my cell phone and I'm not finding a good solution and was wondering if anyone had suggestions.

There are days when I'm on the phone or conf calls for 5-8 hours per day.  And unfortunately, many of the calls are calls I facilitate, not just the "listen only" calls where I can multi-task and not be worried about the quality of the call.

Issues:

Bluetooth devices that sit inside the ear are causing issues with my ears and I just find them horribly uncomfortable

Found a blue tooth that I place just over my ear, with nothing to stick inside my ear and is more comfortable, collegues are telling me sound quality is poor.

Blue tooth devices in general do not have long enough "talk time" without recharging for me to get through a typical work day.

I love the current Plantronics headset I use when working from the house, it plugs into the cordless house phone that won't be going on the road with us. House phone uses a 2.5MM connector into the phone, cell phones have a 3.5 mm connector so I bought an adapter and I thought it was fine but people are telling me the quality isn't good from their end.  I've checked, it doesn't appear that Plantronics makes a headset that doesn't require the adapter.

I tried a blue tooth headset that we bought from Frye's, it went back to the store 2 days later because I couldn't stand the scratchy sound quality.

I am not picky about whether the headset is cordless or connected to my phone, I just need something with good voice quality so my collegues can quit complaining about that fact that I either sound like I'm under water or my voice is coming through with lots of static which is really annoying on the longer calls.

Any suggestions?

I have a Blue Ant S4 handsfree , I use in my car and love it . It handles two phones . I hate those ear buds as well

you also might want to try looking at computer Gamer headsets.......walmart , kmart, target...Radio shack.........Or go online at.....Newegg.com.......tigerdirect.com........walmart.com

Max Signal - I looked at the Blue Ant device, does it have to be used in a vehicle? If I'm working out of the 5th wheel, will it still work? I guess one other thing I should have mentioned, both my husband and I will be working out of the 5ver, he doesn't necessarily want to hear all my calls coming out of a speaker phone or speaker device.

Mike - I know my phone quality is okay when I use the phone without a head set and a couple of the blue tooth devices I've tried are good, I just hate having something in my ear.

The S4 can used anywhere you want . I use mine in my office as well . Blue ant does make excellent ear pieces as well .

i use a Blue Parrot headset. I've never had a compliant about quality, and has great noise reduction. About $100, truck drivers use it because it performs well in tough conditions. Manufacturer proclaims talk time is 16 hours. It has the loudest volume of any headset I've tried.

Mark - thanks, I "stumbled" onto the Blue Parrot today when I was searching some more, the device had some really mixed reviews including compliants that it didn't last long, after a while it would quit holding a charge. Just curious, how long have you had yours and have you had that issue?

I use a Boise in-ear headset (link to one of the sets on Amazon Bose MIE2 Mobile Headset). This is the highest quality sound and most comfortable set that I have ever owned (i.e., you can wear it for hours and hardly notice the ear peice) -- a little more expensive than other in-ear sets, but well worth the approx. $100 price. Compared to various wired and wireless headsets that I have owned, this one is far superior.

I have had mine about a year. It still holds a charge and performs as it did on day one. I'm not in the truck anymore so it doesn't get that abuse. It seems to be a pretty tough unit. I still use it daily because I need to write when I'm on the phone. It comes with 12V and 120V chargers and replacement ear and mic covers. I find it particularly comfortable to wear for long periods. It has a reasonably long range. I could leave my phone in the truck and almost walk around it without losing signal. It would get weak by the time I got to the backend of the trailer.

 You need to buy good quality bluetooth speakers. They will cost you once, but will solve all your problem
