Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

About this Texan

I guess I have the cart before the Horse and have posted before introducing myself.  My name is Caroline and I am married to my "Keeper Hubby" after releasing the first 2 back into the wild where they now happily roam.

In 2001 we bought a lite weight 30 foot RV and an F-150.  I guess we have used it maybe 30 times in all those years.  The longest trip was several years ago to Kerrville, TX for 5 days.  It started raining the night we arrived and it rained the rest of those 5 days.  The rain continued for many days and those of you in Central Texas probably know the year I am talking about.

Now we are planning to go to Quartzite in January and have even purchased a generator so this IS going to happen.  I have read RV-Dreams for years and love these forums!

Caroline, welcome to this AWESOME board and website! If you have been around a while, then you already know how great it is, and how terrific and helpful these folks really are!  There are some great teachers on here who truly don't mind sharing their experience not only with those of us who are just beginning our research, but even with those who have full-timed for many years.

With regard to your post, I was trying to remember when I wrote that, and then I realized my name is not Caroline!  no  I, too, am a (native) Texan who also turned my first two losers out to pasture.  Problem is, the second one was roaming BEFORE I turned him out.  I, too, have been blessed with a KEEPER HUSBAND!  clap.gif Can't wait to start full-timing with him.  I've always fondly referred to him as "my 'lil splorer".  So, that should come in handy when we can finally leave home and go "splorin"!

What part of Texas are you from and do you plan on full-timing?

Thanks for the warm Welcomes! I looked back on my profile and see I joined in 2008 and I have mostly lurked and soaked up info the past few years. I was researching Boily generators and the best review was on these forums. In fact a LOT of good information and topics are here.

I don't know how long we will stay gone on our upcoming trip. I have family stuff going on till January so we should get to Quartzite at just the right time of year. I want to "Long Time" and possibly full time in the future. At this point I am reluctant to leave my home and 3 of my 6 children that are close.

As for where I am from....Austin, TX is home. I'm a navy brat born in Corpus Christi, TX and returned to TX 27 years ago. Kansas was home for many years before the move to Texas. Dad retired to Hutchinson, KS when I was 18 and I lived on farms in SW Kansas from age 20 to 35 then we moved to Texas. YEA!!!

We are Texans also and right now, pretty close to you, at the Inks Lake state park where we are park hosting until the first of the year. We have always loved the hill country and Inks Lake was one of our favorites.

We have been full timers since 2008 and are loving this life! We will be going down to the Rio Grande valley when we leave here and next years is shaping up as a busy year for our travels. We'd love to visit if you get down this way. The coffee pot is always on!

Caroline,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  Glad to have you as an active participant.

However, I do have to ask yet another question of you.  You mentioned living on farms in SW Kansas for about 15 years.  While we aren't Jayhawkers, Jo was born in Elkhart, Kansas because her family lived just across the state line in Oklahoma.  Where in the SW Kansas area did you live.

Terry

jayc...

Our RV is parked on my sisters properties a couple miles from Burnet. They have 2 full hookup sites set up there and we go to the RV on ocassion and spend the night. Since there are goats on the property it isn't really "park like" but it is free storage. We will be going out in a few days and I have the Parks pass for free entry to Inks...we should get together sometime.

Terry...

Farms were in Stanton county some sections bordered the Morton county line. We bought and serviced some autos in Elkhart. Small world!
