Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

USAA for extended warranty

I know most people suggest not to purchase the extended warranty, however my husband nor I know much about working on a 5th wheel. That being said we are purchasing the extended warranty. My question is, if people are using the USAA extended warranty and please share their experiences. We have USAA for most everything and I absolutely love them. They have done very well by us even with our vehicle insurance as well.

With that being said... the place where we purchased our RV offers XTRARIDE for their warranty policies. Im curious how to compare them or if anyone has used them as well?...

Be sure to at least check out Wholesale Warranties.  Go to the "RV-Dreams.com Home" link at the top of this page.  There is a link on that site to Wholesale Warranties.  An added benefit-- we have an extended warranty expert on this site who can answer your questions about warranties in general.  Just go to 'Ask Howard'.

Ditto".........I would Check with Howard and look at all my options.......sometimes just a simple hidden clause or deductible makes a policy not worth the paper its written on.

I looked over and did research on Wholesale warranties that Howard is referring to and it looked very well for price points.........dont forget road hazzard & towing.....lodging if it is available. breaking down on the side of the road or Forbid a tree limb breaking loose during a storm puts you out of your "home" temporarily the coverage is nice...(treat it like a good homeowner policy). and also remember that the insurance is only as good as being able to contact someone and get things moving when you need them!!!!!!!

you also want to look very carefully if they are paying directly or are you paying for repairs and waiting for reimbursement.....a good policy will work directly with the servicer. I have found the ones that want to reimburse you tend to not do it, or make it so unbearable that you give up or lose more attempting to collect.

with a good policy you will pay more but at the same time they will be there for you when needed......( like your medical insurance)

Looks like we jump the gun a lil to fast on signing for using the companies Extended warranty. We do believe it is a good one as well, just that we see we paid more than we had too. The money we borrowed to pay for our new Coach is what we used also to pay for the warranty. After speaking with the company they have informed me that if we cancel then the money goes back to the loan company since that is where the money come from. This actually will not work for us since at this time we do not have the funds to pay for the warranty out of pocket. Lesson well learned right. We are planning to stick with the XtraRide warranty plan but in the future will be more patient in signing.

I do thank you all for the heads up. Actually feel confident the XtraRide is a great warranty, just that we could had saved more money if we had went through Wholesale warranties instead ;)

the nice part is that it is paid...........just prior to renewal you now have half the leg work done on your options!!!!!!!

Nothing ever goes as planned.............thats why Rving is great, minimal planning .....maximum leisure time!!!!

We still have a bit to go since we have to buy the truck to pull our home and then get the home here with us .. lol However, the "whole new makeover" you speak of is exactly what we are excited for ;D
