Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
This season Joan and I learned a lot about workamping. When we started in April we didn't know anything as this was our first workamping experience. We met some wonderful co-workers and some unusual campers. We drove tractors, felled trees and herded bats and birds. We cleaned campsites and restrooms. We collected camping fees and lots of memories. And we explored, explored, explored.......As much of Oregon as we could; including a couple of short jaunts into Washington and California.
On Tuesday Joan and I will be heading out. We are scheduled to report to work at Amazon in Fernley Nevada the week of October 28th. For the next few weeks we plan to cruise around looking for interesting places to visit between here and there. We've been asked several times if there's anywhere specific we're going and Joan keeps telling everyone "We're going to Hell"; Hell's Canyon that is. It's located a little ways off I-84 in eastern Oregon/western Idaho. There's also the small community of Joseph found in an area called the Oregon Alps that we're hoping to explore.
Would we workamp again? - That answer is obvious as we've already accepted a position in Buena Vista, Colorado for next summer. Chalk Creek Campground. Thanks Karen and Al. We have big shoes to fill!
Would we work in Oregon again? - Yes, but not anytime soon as there are lots of other western states that we want to explore over the next few years. And there's the trip to Alaska we'd like to make in the next 2-3 years.
Would we work for CLM again? - Absolutely. We really enjoyed working for CLM and feel as though they offer workampers one of the better compensation packages.
All things considered this has been a great experience for us. We're really happy we made the decision to fulltime. And we're looking forward to our next adventure.

Travel tip, if you have time, on your way through Western Idaho, another fun area to explore is McCall ID (south of Hell's canyon) and Cascade Lake State Park is a great place to camp, easily accessible for large RVs.
OK, this is kind of a dumb question, but I've not followed your blog to know. Who is CLM? Others might want to consider them as a workkamping site or even just as a place to stay for a while.
Thanks.
Terry

Funny Lucky Mike! It was something like that! Actually we had birds and sometimes bats get into the bathrooms and once in the store. Ever try to get them to fly back out the door they came in? Not easy! Just another talent to add to resume.

first you build a corral.....then you get your flashlite and a Burlap Snipe sack......you must walk backwards while doing this so be very carful upon your approach!!!!!!
if that doesnt work , use of bat and bird dogs have worked out very well!!!!

Will be starting our first workamping job in May. We will be workamping in Michigan at Walendwood Resort from May - Sept. Anyone else ever workamp there?
Awww, Mike, you remind me of my older brother (except you're younger). I visited him in Florida once and wanted to see an alligator. He took me to a local " alligator pond" and showed me a secret that "tourists don't know, only locals know this trick" and had me beating the water with a big stick "because that attracts them!" Dumb me did it!
We're workamping at a Crater Lake RV Park in Oregon this summer for our first experience. Supposed to be a great place with no bathroom cleaning, no maintenance, no tractors and hopefully no bats or birds but I have experience with those two. : )
