Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
My name is Terry and I plan on jumping into RVing during the first part of next year.
I have been thinking of this for quite a few years and because of some recent personal circumstances I have decided to throw myself into this fulltime next year. I have been absorbing myself into all things RV for the last few months with the hopes of avoiding some of the pitfalls of RVing. I recently spent 4 days at the Hershey RV show and went to as many semimars as I could. I read a lot of forums and have a ton of websites bookmarked on my computer.
I am use to living in small spaces since I own an 18 wheeler and I'm on the road for several weeks at a time. Actually an RV would be like a very large house compared to this truck. Dont get the wrong idea, I am moving out of my 5 bedroom house in PA, so its not like I just live in a truck, but I believe trucking has conditioned myself for Rving.
I plan to put the RV on the lake in AL and continue trucking until the weather breaks in the spring of next year, then I plan to sell my big truck and take the RV to North Dakota and work there until I have enought $$ to pay cash for a newer 5er and 3500 truck. After that I plan to retire as much as I can, all the long knowing I will have to do some workamping as well.
Well that my story and my plans are subject to circumstances.
I can hardly wait to get started with this new phase in my life.
I have a couple of friends that did the same.......They drove OTR and sold there home one bought a class a , the other a 5vr.....and put them in the middle or end of there runs, if there runs changed they moved there units..........kept there money in tops by cutting down on bad areas with long layovers and getting home was always more convenient

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. While my spell at being an operator of an 18-wheeler is way back when, I can still understand your situation. I can also understand moving an RV to the south while you are still running the truck.
Good luck with your plans and research. Feel free to ask questions here as there are a lot of folks that have a lot of knowledge and experience.
Glad to have you as part of the "family."
Terry
