Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
average run time from the Berkshires or albany Ny going thru penn to Va...Christiansburg area and warmer weather is 14 hours........if you want to stay winterized that long I would say 10 gallons...(5 per person per day) carried onboard and one galon of antifreeze or wiper fluid for toilet and sink drains will keep you out of trouble.....once you acheive middle to southern Va you should be fine as long as your not doing more than overnites and you dont let the temps inside go below freezing.......your holding tanks outside are your only worries and those should be drained if below freezing after use or add wiper fluid or antifreeze until warmer areas are reached........

We are not lost in the Woods.....Just Extreme boondocking!!!!!!
We will be starting out in mid November, leaving from upstate NY. Our question is- since the campgrounds in the North will be closed, how much water should we carry & where can we get more while traveling south? Looks like we will be stopping in truck stops or Walmarts until we get far enough south where the campgrounds are open. Any suggetions?
You can always put some water in the tank at the truck isles or RV lanes of a truck stop, but I wouldn't want to drink it. If you're going to boondock at a Walmart, then go in and buy a couple gallon jugs of water for drinking, ice cubes, and cooking. You can do a cheap refill at the next Walmart.
I lived in VA for years. Real winter weather isn't normal there in November. Now having said that, it will probably snow knee deep to the Jolly Green giant.
I agree with Lucky Mike on the 10 gallons. Enough to flush the toilet and take some Navy showers. If your guage doesn't read that accurately know that it takes about 15 seconds to fill a gallon jug at normal water pressure. You can estimate by that.
