Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The RV Safety & Education Foundation (RVSEF) is seeking another couple to be a weighing team on the road. We now have two teams and are seeking a third. This is primarily a supplemental income gig; however, the income can be pretty good for a team that wants to do a lot of rallies (though we recommend not going overboard). The team will be independent contractors, not employees. The position requires both team members to be actively involved.
Candidates must:
Be fit enough to bend, stoop, and maneuver 37-pound scales several times during a weighing session
Have a neat, tidy appearance (casual is okay, sloppy is not)
Be able to professionally present Powerpoint presentations (presentations are provided as is training on subject matter)
Be able to handle paperwork and fees accurately and in accordance with RVSEF policies
Be able to communicate and negotiate with rally coordinators
Have a way to secure and transport four scales
Be passionate about RVer education and safety
We are hoping to get someone trained this fall/winter and ready to work 2014 rallies, although time is slipping away. We have more requests from Rally coordinators than we can handle, and we would sure like to accommodate as many as we can.
As we now have two teams with "towable" RVs, preference will be given to full-timers with a motorhome, but we need the best candidates regardless. Of the requirements above, seminar presentation skills are crucial, so if you are not comfortable getting up in front of a crowd and engaging an audience, this probably isn't for you.
Linda & I will help coordinate schedules and provide advice on rally selection. Mostly, the new team can pick and choose which rallies to work (with some exceptions), but anywhere from 2 - 4 rallies each year will be required. Individual weighings in campgrounds and RV parks are welcomed as long as they are conducted within RVSEF standards.
If you or someone you know is interested in finding out more details, send me a private message or use our Contact Form and let us know the best times and method of getting in touch. Of course, you can ask questions on this thread, and we'll answer if it is information that can be made public.
We have been wanting to get new teams on board. There are now two of us, and we're looking for a third.
Dang, wish my wife and I were ready to Full Time. Before I retired from the PD, I was was an instructor in a couple of different areas and one of my details was Commercial Motor Vehicle enforcement. It included not only inspections, but weighing them out on portable scales..... Maybe next year, good luck in your search Howard.
