Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Drive through Truck washes

Our tow truck got a bad "infestation" of pollen from a tree right next to our spot in the mobile home park, so we took it to a nearby do-it-yourself truck wash.  Keep in mind that I said "truck" wash and not car wash.  When we kicked in the pressure pump while I was standing in the back to start on the roof of the cab, it nearly threw me back over the fifth wheel hitch.  Next time, I do it the old fashioned way or find a DIY car wash.  Oh, and the DIY "truck" was was way more expensive than a "car" wash.

Does anyone have any experience - good or bad - with running your RV through a Truck Wash?

make sure they hand wash or are brushless..........truck wash facilities use alot of high acid soaps and 5 dollar an hour clowns who dont care about your coach........watch how they do it first and be there while they do it..........(Geee.....do you think I might have had bad Experiences)

 

I have found that just looking on craigslist or going to a decent RV supply will find a Detailer that cares about your coach and puts a little love into it.......and does it like the day you bought it!!

 

I carry a mini pressure washer(electric) for the inbetweens.    normally I spend money on full cleaning and waxing Every 4-6 months and have the inside and outside done,

I've read posts in the past where RV'ers have been satisfied with results from Truck Wash facilities along the interstates.

Like others have said I would make sure they hand (brush) wash rather than pressure wash.

Yeah, my son got a kick out of seeing the real thing as well.  He's regretting that he didn't have his phone set up to record a video of that event.

 

As for the larger truck type services, some have spoken of being able to use them but something was said about insuring that no acid was used for work on an RV.

I have used the Truck Wash as a over the road driver and have used them to Wash the Truck and Mobile Suites. What the Truck Driver call Streaking Beacon I have used many times. "ALWAYS" tell them no Acid wash and I have never had a issue.... Happy Trails....
