Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello, all.

I'm new here, but not really to RVing.

I did a year and a half of "full timing" up until last summer, when I sold my previous RV. Heck, it was only a 17' Dodge Tioga II! Li'l bitty thing, but served me well.

After about half a year in a cottage withOUT a rig, I both missed having one and a nutty landlady painfully reminded me of the real freedoms of always having one's OWN place to go, shut and lock a door behind ya' and even take off whenever and however ya' like.

So I'd shopped around for a few months, thinking I'd get something similar, since the budget was modest. Instead, now I've got 24' Dodge "Establishment". Bigger and with more systems/amenities than ever. Boy does it feel luxurious compared to my previous one.

There's just a bit o' work it needs, but mostly seems in pretty fair shape. I live basically on a small, fixed income with occasional gusts from skills and ventures I do, so I'm only slowly getting to the work. Right now, the carb is the attention getter. Meanwhile, I rent an "art studio" in a commercial bldg that does some double-duty as a pseudo studio-apt too, since I rent a space at the commercial lot here, which disallows habitation in it (same goes for my "office" but it's harder to tell).

I'm still looking for another, different location/situation at which I could be more completely "open" about my presence and situation, and also more functional. There are a lot of rules here that limit how much and what kind of work I can even do. So I post and answer ads online seeking some arrangement somewhere where I can go to finish up.

Then I'm looking forward to living in and out of the rig and hitting the road some.

I also currently have a small Harley motorcycle, which I've been  using to get around with. But I'll have to sell it soon to afford what I want for the rig.

Welcome to the forums, Jack.

As one with some experience with smaller rigs, you might be something of a valuable source for those interested in those sizes.  Feel free to make comments and ask questions.  As for a place to park your rig with less restrictions, are there any mobile home parks in the SF area where one can park an RV and live in it?  We are doing that here in Oklahoma City, where there are several that can accomodate an RV with 30 or 50 amp electrical systems.

Good luck with finding a "domicile" and with your plans and upgrades.

Greetings, Terry. 

You know, I've NEVER done an actual RV park. I recently got invited to outright manage one, though, due to a background in property mgt. But it's hundreds of miles away. If the rig was already ship-shape that might be an interesting option, since it's in some beautiful country.

But immediately ahead, I'll probably need a different scene until I get the work done. Can't use all the systems yet, so require some "indoors" resources for a spell too.

I'd be glad to contribute what I can here. Both smaller rigs, some "stealth" boondocking angles and the general, shared mobile lifestyle experience.

Jack: Welcome to the forum! I started living in my own 21' Class C that I had totally renovated back in 1999. However as life changes; ended up in the 27' C I have now and can't do another renovation since my health has changed and finances have got strained. I keep touch-up repairing what is absolutely necessary. I also run around on a Honda 49.5 CC. no-ped ( moped with no pedals ). I moved to a campground east of Nashville; TN. and am setting up Appts. with the VA hospital to get the health-things taken care of.

Hiya, Pieere!

I learned how to ride on 50cc Suzukis rented in Griffith Park down in L.A.

I've been thinking about getting something smaller I could carry on the back of the RV for exactly what you're doing, but it's kind of hard for me to go down that far in size, by now.

Looks like we both "upgraded" to larger sizes similarly, too. But I'm not as sure it's all an advantage. I mean it feels great and luxurious in there compared to my li'l rig, but now it forces other practical issues, too.
