Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Financial freedom- that's what we're dreaming about! A friend just gave me this website address and I've been reading like crazy.
I'm Becky, age 52 and watching my husband (Tim) work so many hours each day--- at 60 he's got a ways to go to retire, but then, that gives me a few years to do some research and we can get our "ducks in a row".
My first thought is that we sell the house, get a 5th wheel and a pick-up truck and go workcamp. We currently live in Texas but have relatives in Indiana, Michigan, and Minnesota.
We have a 16 year old son --- he thinks we're absolutely CRAZY to think of something like this --- we wants us to be "normal", but soon - he'll be out of the house in college (I hope).
My biggest fear is that we couldn't financially make it on Tim's social security. I'm a pretty good penny pincher, we live a simply life already, but I guess it's the unknown that I'm concerned about.
I'll be reading alot of the posts on the forum and learning as much for ya'll as possible. Get ready for questions!
Welcome to the forums. It is a good site with a lot of knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful folks. Ask any question that comes to mind, but you can also gain a lot of knowledge by using the "Search" function near the top of the "Categories" page.
Also, from the website's home page, look at "Site Map" for a long list of research and information that has been posted by Howard and Linda. Look around and you can find their "Financials" entries where you can get an idea of their expenses. You may very well have to alter your RV lifestyle some to make it work, and who knows, it may not work at all.
However, it is better to find that out now instead of jumping in with both feet and finding out it was a costly venture.
Terry

Welcome, Becky! I see you took my advice and now you are hooked? I wish you the best in your endeavors. As you continue to read the posts (past and present), you will find that many who have planned to retire "later", actually retire "sooner". What is the worse that could happen? If we don't do this now, then when? It's never a perfect time to do anything, so forge ahead. You've got a LOT to do!
P.S. Memories are everywhere, but reside in your heart... where they are safe!
