Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

2001 Newmar Mountain Aire 4095 Questions

I have agreed on a purchase price of C$60,000.00 for a 2001 Newmar Mountain Aire 4095 with 67000 miles on it, it has the Spartan chassis and 350 Cummins engine, the owner is the original owner, the rig has been well looked after, the only issues outside that needs to be addressed are the rear large Newmar mud flap which needs some reinforcing by welding in some new frame pieces and the roof which needs a little ****ing and cleaning done. Inside the rig is in good condition other than a 10 inch crack in the corian countertop which I believe can be repaired and the carpet is a little on the dull side. Does anyone have any suggestions on problem areas with this brand and model of rig that I should be aware of ?

Thank you for your assistance and suggestions.

Dave

Not knowing much about the brand, I can only give general comments.  Be sure and have an RV tech check it out.  If it hasn't been used much, you could have power train issues, so pay very close attention to those.  Also, check the date codes on the tires and see if you can find a reference to how long those should last.

Dave, Hi and welcome to the forum. We have a 2001 Mountain Aire. Not sure of the exact model but the chassis and engine are the same as yours. Ours has 40,000 miles on it and we purchased it two years ago. We tried to get more info on it (bought at dealership) but were unsuccessful. There were some books with written dates on them but we decided to start anew. We did have some problems with the automatic levelers and had the dealer work on it twice. They replaced all the electronics and after a short time they still didn't work correctly. Now we push the buttons and level. It seems like those leveler problems are wide spread in rv communities and not just Newmar. We have maintained a schedule of oil changes. We wanted a fuel filter change last time but they said it was "ok" Down the road we found out differently and will always replace it at the same time. We have had no other problems and love the coach. We check air pressure on tires regularly, run the generator, air conditioners, and coach if we are set down for awhile. We replaced the carpet in the kitchen and bathroom with Konecto vinyl planking and really like it. Bought a Little Green Machine and have shampooed the rest of carpet. We are doing a full scheduled maintenance next week. Common sense and I like to think if we are good to the coach it will be good to us.

Thank you for your reply. I notice in the records that the owner replaced the fuel filters every time he had the oil and filters changed which was every 10,000 miles. The coach is being checked over from top to bottom and front to back this week, our fingers are crossed that every thing checks out Ok because we really like it and would like to close the deal. I am so glad to hear that you love your Mountain Aire, enjoy the summer.
