I'm getting ready to order one of these to replace the little pencil type I've had in the glovebox for years for the new rig…any particularly good or bad brands? Looking at them on Amazon results in a plethora of brands but I don't really recognize any of them.

I've seen recommendations for a "truck type" model and figure that means the kind with a rotary gauge rather than the stick that sticks out of the pencil type; but beyond that I have no idea. I don't have a particular need for a digital readout but don't have anything against them either.

We'll have a PressurePro for on the road monitoring but wanted something to check a little more accurately with when doing pre-underway checks in the morning.

If you decide to go with a regular truck type gauge, Milton is a brand that sold to service stations for years.

Look down at the bottom of the page at this site to see what type it is I have. Ours is like the very bottom one. It is the style with the slide out stick. I guess I'm too "old-school" to go with the newer styles.

I don't know what kind of RV you have, but if you have duals anywhere, consider the location and accessibilty of your valve stems. Also, keep in mind the highest tire pressure you will have on your RV and insure that the gauge will have a higher capacity.

I use Pressure Pro as well and I bought a digital - long - heavy duty tire guage from Camping World and I'm very happy with it - thus far it gives the same readings as Pressure Pro gives.

Thanks, I'll check it out. The more I think about it this might be one of those things that isn't worth spending a lot of research time on; probably just about any one would do.

I too use the digital from camping world. It even has a blue led light on the butt end for night time convenience. Handy and accurate.

I'll take a look at the Milton as well; we do have a DRW F450 truck and the New horizons has single wheels of course…I was going to wait until I had the truck in hand before getting anything; I had read elsewhere several times about difficulities with the stem for the inner wheels sometimes.
