Washer / Dryer Combo

I don't have one but was looking into them as well. I understand that you can't put alot in them and it takes a long time for clothes to day, for instance, a couple hours instead of 30-45 minutes. We decided that if we did get one it would be the tower kind, small apartment size, washer on the bottom dryer on top.

We have one and my wife hates it, in fact she is using a coin laundry off site instead of ours right now. She complains that it takes forever to wash and dry and the clothe come out needing to be ironed. Of course she refuses to do that. Our is a ventless one.. If you don't mind doing little loads then you would be fine. Forget about doing bed sheets and large items like that... Of course this is all hear say from my wife.. I love it..LOL..but I haven't touched a washing machine in years.. She said I will never get one of these again..

We have a vented one and my wife insisted on it and is very happy to have it. She doesn't like laundry mats and doesn't mind doing 1 to 3 loads a day during the week instead of everything on one day. It has been almost 8 years since we got it with this motorhome. We would not want a ventless one.

Hey Amy & Brian,

We don't have a washer & dryer, so I'm probably not the best to ask.

Opinions are all over the place, but from what I've read and heard, stackables seem to perform better than the combo, and the combo vented performs better than the combo non-vented.

We've been without a washer/dryer for seven years and Linda still prefers the once a week laundry trip. However, if we were to get one, it would NOT be a non-vented combo - for whatever that's worth. smile

Thank You... There seems to be alot to think about with these units. I was told about the Splendide, I even called the manufacture. Still tossing around all the info. Thank You Again.

Lol...Thank You.. I feel her pain. I'm thinking that it will be nice in the winter months. I am 50/50 on everything else. I don't want to spend money on a machine that I may or may not use. Brian would have a fit..lol Thank You again. smile

This is one thing we've been wondering about too! We finally decided to get a 5th wheel with the hook ups available and see if we can do without the washer/dryer. The only thing with us is that we have a 2 yr old. Lots of laundry!!!

I, too, am very finicky about OPs stuff in my clothes. We are also considering a W/D when it comes time to purchase our 5er, but not a combo. We have not heard many good things about the combos. This is what we do have in mind, though. We have many reasons for wanting a toyhauler and drying our clothes is one of them. You see, even while still living in a S&B, we wash our clothes and then put them in the dryer just long enough to steam them up. Then we take them out (while still damp), shake them 2-3 times, place on a hanger, and hang them up to dry. They always dry quickly in the house and come out perfect, so hanging in the garage of a toyhauler should help dry them even quicker! While in the garage, they will be out of sight of the general public. (Don't want to be tacky!) My only concern is how much water does it take to wash a load? Did someone say 10 gallons?

For what it's worth..we have a Splendide, vented combo machine. At first I didn't think I liked it..but..now I'm used to it. I don't do big loads, but found that using the proper drying times keeps the wrinkles at bay. It's handy not having to go to the laundry all the time. We, however, would have opted out if the Montana we have didn't have a nice hall closet for the machine!

Laurie, the model of the Montana is the one we are considering or else the 3800. How do you like it? Pros? Cons? We are planning on going full time in 2013. So you have a side by side w & d?

Sending you a PM - don't want to hijack the thread about our Montana. As for the Splendide - we have the combo. We were told by Keystone that we wouldn't like the side by side as you can only run one at a time anyway (not sure if that was hooey!). Either way the combo takes up way less room and IMHO works great!

Unless there is something different about Keystone products, this sounds strange. Jo and I have a Whirlpool side by side set in our coach and she runs both of them all the time. Now, having said that, we are on 50 amp electric and I don't know what would happen if we were on 30 amp as I've not researched the amp draw of both units. However, after your comment, I will be.

One thing regarding the Whirlpools is that the matched set that have doors with windows, at the time we were looking, the dryer of that set was 240V only. We found a dryer made by Whirlpool that is 120V instead. It just doesn't have the window in the door.

When we got the MH we opted not to have the washer dryer. We spent way too much time washing when we had the stackable unit in the 5ver. Now we can get the wash done in 2 hours for the week and be done with it. Besides the time saved we have less weight and more room for storage.
