Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Oh my gosh fellow Dreamers....we are so darn tired!
The end is almost near...our Estate Sale will be this Thurs, Fri. and Saturday and then we are done!
Only 19 days till we start our Camp Host position and I think the time is going to go by really fast now...especially once the sale is over.
We have 2 buildings full to the brim of "stuff" and plenty of the bigger items on Craigs list....I hope we get rid of most of it, because it has been a mountain of work for sure!
I am thankful however that once the end of the weeks comes, most of our "stuff" will be gone and I hopefully won't have to ever worry about having a sale ever, ever again....

Well put....well put! At least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....seems like it took forever to get to this stage...forever.
The sale will be over on Sunday....we will be on the road a few days after that to stay a few places and just relax and rewind and take in all that has happened in the last 4 months since we decided to actually take the Fulltiming plunge.
Our job will start in a few weeks and hopefully by then we will be relaxed enough that we can start our new adventure "bright eyed and bushy-tailed" I know we are both looking forward to it.

Way to go!!! Bet you feel like a kid waiting for Christmas, I know I do, as I only have 10 more days till I retire. My DW is already retired and right now up north a the 5th wheel putting her touches to it getting ready for the big day.
Have fun and safe travels to all of you, the fury kids also.
I'm counting the days! Three more years until retirement, and in that time we have to decide what sort of coach we want, find it, get rid of all of the stuff here we won't need, and get the place sold. I think we'd better get busy!

While waiting a bit might be a good thing on selling the house, at least in hopes the markets change fairly soon, it isn't a bad thing living in the RV while still waiting to retire.
Jo and I sold our home about a year ago and have been living in the fifth wheel since then. Depending on what happens at work, we could be working yet for another three years. We actually enjoy living in the RV more so than the big 2250 sq ft home.
Good luck with all the planning and research. But, while looking for the "right" RV, keep an eye on real estate markets in your area. Who knows, once you find the right RV, maybe it would be beneficial to speed up the process, even if you are still working.
Terry

Well, our Estate Sale ended about 1 hour ago. They came and went for 3 days and I am happy to say all we have left from the sale will fit in about 3 boxes that we plan on donating.
I am so...so glad it is all over! Could not wait for this moment...we will be on the road this Friday....I am happy!

Congrats on getting it all done! It really is a lot of work. I was amazed at all the things we kept over the years only to feel burdened by them when we made are decision to travel.
We just completed our first week in Oregon. I know the next few months will fly by. Hope you have a great time at your new job.

FOSJ, you are so right! When it comes to getting rid of all your stuff it is a HUGE burden that is for sure! I still have a few bigger things I need to get rid of and 2 vehicles...but I am not to worried, I am taking that stuff out to my brother and he is going to sell that stuff for me on Craigs list.
But the other "junk" is gone!
Dunno, we might even get out of here a day or to sooner, but we have a few loose ends to tie up and need to get some errands done like getting our truck to the Ford dealer for a oil change and check up and a trip down to the weigh station to get a final weight on our rig to see if we need to make any adjustments but I think we are well under our total weight. :)
So excited for our "new life" to get started and leave our old one behind!

Congrats on making it through the "getting rid of stuff" stage alive! We know how much work it is getting stuff ready for the sale and what an odd feeling it is seeing your possessions go down the driveway in the hands of strangers!
After it was all over we had such a feeling of relief - it was like all that stuff was a big weight on our backs and now it was gone. The only trouble we had was allowing ourselves to slow down. We'd been on the fast track for 30 days straight and once it was really over we couldn't stop running!

I think that will be a problem for us too! I feel like we have been working on trying to get rid of all our stuff for such a long time!
It was such a huge relief today just not having to think about all the stuff and what we were going to do with it!
I told my dh today...when we pull out of our driveway for the final time this Friday....that we were NEVER to be in a huff or rush about anything ever again....weather we manage to do that or not may take some time. :)

WOW... Congrats to both of you! Hang in there! Just think....I'm starting where you guys were months ago. Starting to clear out clutter and I still have to make house repairs, clean out my attic clean out my basement....and I won't even mention the garage! And still have to put the house up for sale! Your so far ahead of us! You've done it! YEah! I can't wait for me to feel that relief too!
I can't agree more! Weeding through our "stuff" is hard work. I have already spent a week of vacation and 2 complete weekends working just on paperwork... and I STILL have not even come close to finishing. I'm glad I'm starting now; otherwise, I'll NEVER get there! I have fourteen months from 12:01 AM (in the morning) to get everything done, and hope to be finished BEFORE then! It is layer after layer after layer. Will it ever end? And did I mention I am a very neat and organized individual? Maybe that's the problem?
Hang in there, my friends. The best is yet to come... no doubt!!!

Oh... I remember going through boxes and boxes of papers. Stuff we should have thrown out years and years ago but it was simpler to just pack it away in the attic or garage. I sat in the recliner and would make 3 piles: stuff that could just go in the trash, stuff that needed to be shredded and stuff we had to keep. The keep pile was almost always non-existant! I feel your pain and I'm sure glad that phase is behind us!

At least my bathroom/linen closet is completely DONE! I just have 2 more full baths to conquer! Now, I can't say my DH is as accomplished, and HE's been RETIRED 3+ years already!! I do believe he's in for a rude awakening, though! The more he procrastinates, the more I envision myself reclining in a comfy chair nearby, watching him working in a panicked state, with sweat dropping from his dear, sweet brow!
