Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
My husband Pete and I live in northern lower Michigan, and plan to go full-time within the year with our 2 little dogs, cat, and 7 parrots. Pete is only 4 years from retirement but we don't see any need (big pensions, whatever) to wait. It is only in the last 6 months that we have come to the decision to do this, and since then ALL of my spare time is taken up by reading blogs, watching videos, studying RV ads, and plotting planning our escape from the burdens of home ownership, and the beginning of doing what we LOVE to do best: travel :).
Looking forward to doing some more reading on the forums, going to get back to it right now in fact!
Lots of great information here to help you get on the road. We started full-timing before we could get full retirement and haven't been at all sorry.
As questions come up, be sure to ask. There's lots of friendly folks on this forum that will be glad to help.
Good luck with your plans,
Jim

It is good to have you as part of the "family" of those dreaming of and living the RV lifestyle. That family is made up of a lot of knowledgeable folks that are also willing to answer your questions. So, feel free to ask the questions that may come to you.

Hello and welcome to the family. I am repeating what others have said when I say do ask questions. Maybe you will ask the one that someone else forgot to ask and would like to know. Someone here will have answers. Good luck with your ................um "planning" and maybe we will meet down the road one day.

My husband and I and my in-laws are planning to hit the road in November 2012. I will be 44 in September and my husband who will be 37 in July we have had it with working 8-5 jobs and can't wait to get on the road and explore our country. My in-laws who are in their 70's are always coming with us. We are looking into renting our home out and we will be travelling with our bulldog Tank.
I am looking for any information that anyone has that they can give to help us with our journey.
We already rent out our home and it has been going really well- we are not on the road yet but renting our house was a big first step- we do not want to sell yet so this has been a great solution, let me know if I can answer any questions!
We have 8 months to go before we head out. We have been living in an RV for the past 4 years so we are versed in what we need to take and what we need to leave behind. Glad to have you here with us...
Thanks very much :). This summer we are preparing our home for sale in the spring. My husband can take an early retirement in January but we won't be listing the house until spring. Once we get that done, we can purchase our RV and get on the road as we are able. We've already begun to start counting down the weeks - lol.
We are also plotting..err...planning for retirement and full time RV life! I am right there with you, with all of my spare time being used on blogs, websites and forums! Shoot even if I dont have the spare time all those chores don't seem quite as critical now My husband retires in 5 years and we are very excited and motivated! In the meantime, we continue on our adventures, dream, plan, research and start prepping! Best wishes to you as you get ready and then head out!
Greetings Sherry and all I can say is to just jump in with both feet and don't wait if you don't need to... We are in our mid 50's and have fulltimed a little over a year now with no regrets whatsoever...
Becca, we were going to wait until hubby had full retirement at 66; instead he will take partial retirement at 62. I have a seasonal job that only requires a strong internet connection - we will only stay places that have one when I'm working April-Nov - and a fairly quiet environment. Between the 2 we will do ok, and hubby is healthy and hardy enough at only 62 to take on other things as well. And so am I :). We're looking into our options now.
Heyduke, we are very excited now that we've chosen not to wait! All it will take is selling the house and buying a used rig. In the meantime we are already divesting ourselves of possessions and putting plans in place to make it happen in 2013 :).
