Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

2008 Honda Fit Sport For Sale!

We're selling our 2008 Honda Fit Sport that we previously used as a towed vehicle behind our motorhome.  It's all set up for towing with a Blue Ox baseplate.  When the towing tabs are removed the baseplate is barely noticeable.  Wiring is a Blue Ox diode kit that uses the car's own tail lights. Weighing in at about 2,500 lbs., you hardly know it's behind the motorhome!

This is a very versatile, fun to drive car and is quite economical to run getting about 29-33 mpg around town and around 40 mpg highway.

Here are the details:

  • 54,000 original miles - we bought it new so it's a one-owner car
  • Automatic transmission, front wheel drive
  • Air Conditioning
  • Power windows and door locks
  • Stereo CD payer
  • Cruise control (controls on steering wheel)
  • Paddle shifters on steering wheel
  • Intermitant wipers
  • Rear window wiper
  • Multi-position fold down rear seats
  • Florida car - no exposure to road salt

Edmunds.com puts the private party value at $10,872 so that's what we're asking.  That's about $2,000 below dealer retail.  We only have about a week until we close on the house and start traveling so don't wait to contact me via private email on this site. Pictures available.

The Honda Fit was sold the same day I listed it on Craigslist!

Wow!  Congratulations on the quick sale.  Jo had a similar experience when she signed up for Craigslist and listed the original couch and recliners from our Mobile Suites.  He posted the furniture at about 7:00am and had a buyer on the phone by 9:00am.

I have to watch her is she starts eyeing my "stuff."

Now, that said, if one sells on Craigslist, make sure to take precautions when meeting potential buyers so that your security is insured.

Terry, even better the buyer banked at the same credit union as we did.  I listed the car at 9:00 am and at 2:00 pm we were at the bank transfering the money from her account to ours!

Yessir, you definitely have to be careful on Craigslist.  We almost fell for a scam regarding our garage/moving sale.  We were contacted via Craigslist (we advertised the sale there) by someone representing a local women's shelter asking if they could have the leftovers from our sale.  We agreed and when the person showed up in a shabby van with no ID and no written receipt for the donation we smelled a rat.  After making phone calls (that we should have made in the first place) we found out that this person is running a scam to stock their own personal thrift store across the border in Georgia!  The Florida AG is after them right now.
