Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Does anyone have any experience with this park. I know it's early, but we're looking for a place in the Rio Grande Valley for next winter. I saw this place on the RV Park Reviews website and am intrigued because it has riverfront sites. I love being parked with a water view. I'd appreciate any information anyone has on the area as we've never been there. Thanks!

But...I have driven past it many times along the levee above it (a nice restaurant with boat trips on the river)
This park is indeed on the river - the Rio Grande River. The Border Patrol uses the parks boat ramp to launch their craft. I say that not as a 'warning' just as a fact. We have stayed in the RGV (Mission Tx) for the past 4 winters and I have observed ZERO reasons to be concerned with my safety - that said like anywhere else one must be vigilant.
The other tidbit about this park is that it is susceptible to flooding... a while back the whole park was under water (hurricane something or other don't remember which one) you may want to check out what they have done to rebuild damaged buildings.
The park access seems precarious to me....steep incline into the park and I get paranoid about bottoming out....but there are a lot of rvs in the park so it is probably just me.
Good Luck in your search.

We are currently at Chimney Park RV Resort in Mission, TX. We have come to the Rio Grande valley fo several years, but this is our fist year at this park. The is one the nicest parks in the area. And much. much safer than several in the aea. The Border Patrol and National Guard are here due to the access to the river NOT because of safety issues. No problems whatsoever. The levey provides protection from irrigation canals that are throughout this entire area! There are several large motorhomes in the park and they have NO problem going in or leaving the park. The managers and staff are super people and they have lots of great activities. There is a covered fishing area with an adjacent small park that any resident can use. Residents also have FREE boat launching. This is a beautiful and quiet place to spend the winter months. The prices are far less than you may think. Yes, a SMALL portion of park was flooded in 2010, but that was due to Mexico releasing their excess water into Falcon Lake, filling that to capacity. The park was given a very short notice that the river would rise rapidly. That did happen, but the park is in great shape, lush green grass, fruit and shade trees, lots of flowers and very clean! Check the park out and come for a stay!
We stayed here just a few months ago. We thought it was a very nice park and we also felt very safe.
This is a senior park (55+) but they will let you stay for a short while (up to 2 weeks) if you are just visiting. There are some year round residents, but it's quiet in the summer. Folks are friendly there thought and I talked to some who said it's really busy and full in the winter. Apparently the snowbirds (they call them Winter Texans) come down for the winter and have a great time!
Everything in the park looked fine. The entrance and boat ramp were newly paved and the Rec Hall, pool and jacuzzi were are clean.
We walked next door to the "Riverside Club" which is a real neat restaurant, right on the river and very fun!
We haven't stayed at Chimney Park but did drive through and check it out last winter. It would be great to have a spot on the river but we thought the access looked a little too steep for us. Our friends we were travelling with felt the same way. We are both in fairly large motorhomes towing vehicles and it seemed a bit tight for our liking. Having said that, it looked like a lovely place to stay if you had no issues with the access. We ate at the Riverside Club and had a great lunch on the deck, while being entertained by the border patrol boats.
