Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hobbies on the Road

It was fun to read the various posts about what you all do for hobbies on the road.  I'm a photographer and have to find room for my iMac.  I use a Nikon D700 with several lenses.  The most used is the 24-70 and the 70-200.  If I'm out and don't want to carry the bag with lots of heavy stuff, I use a 28-300 all purpose lens.  I do adjustments using either Photo Shop CS5 or Capture One.

Hubbie's hobby is music.  He is a retired church organist and choir director so we have carried a small, but full sized church organ in 2 motorhomes.  The organ is now in the house.  It is for sale and he'll purchase a smaller one for the new RV once the house sells.

Here is a link to our photo site and the organ in the RV's

I just received a fun music maker for Christmas. It's perfect for the RV.
Take a look at www.beamz.com

It connects to a pc and allows you to create music using preset rhythms or your own creations.

I'm no professional with very limited music experience, but with this Beamz I've been able to create songs that others have said were good.

If nothing else it's fun to bring out at get togethers. Everyone has fun playing it.

Good Grief, Sue!!!!

That's a serious love affair.....

.....at least you can tell him your hobby takes up a lot less room.

Then again, perhaps that organ could be used to power the motorhome?

There is one thing, Bob never tells me I have too much stuff...LOL  My computer set up does take a lot less space.

We say we have a "speaker on wheels"!    What is fun is for him to play and people walk by the coach.  I'll walk outside and get something from the bay and usually someone will comment on the music.  You could hear it outside, but it wasn't a problem nor did it bother others.  Folks would usually ask what CD we had playing.  They were really blown away when I told them my hubby was playing the organ...yes a church organ, not an electric keyboard.  We gave a lot of coach tours.

Looks like fun!  Hubby has a sound box module he connects to the organ and he can have it sound like any instrument.  He makes the songs sound like a full orchestra is playing along with the organ.  Hey...I don't have to play my flute anymore or handbells.  He can do it all himself!

Phenominal. I would love to have been one of the people walking by and listening to the music.

Neat. Aside from owning an Alfa, DW and I have something in common with you folks..only reversed. I'm the photographer and she's the keyboard player. We occassionally carry an electric keyboard.

I also got tired of lugging around photo equipment so now just have a Soney Cyber-shot. With photo enhancing software, who needs to be really good anyway? smile

I'll throw this idea out for you. We have been able to get some freebie campsites by doing a bit of volunteer work for some church camp organizations near where we have traveled.  I take pix of events and put them on CD and the DW helps with the "sing-alongs." Last year we spent a few weeks in the mountains of Colorado doing it. Wonderful experience.

That sounds like fun!  How did you approach the church camps?  We'll have a big rig (Dutch Star, 43') soon so I imagine it might be a bit big at some mountain retreats/church camps.

And we have more in common, we had Alfa's before our Country Coach and now Newmar.  What # is your Alfa?  Had a lot of trouble with it or did you get lucky and get a good one?  We had both.  There seems to be no inbetween...they were either great or awful.
