Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
In the market for a full time fifth wheel. Still working full time/ part time in Indiana. So I'll be year round IN. Searching for a quality, well insulated with as large of a living area as poss. Prolly 39' New? Prolly a year or so old used to save some $$$ on my first ever RV. I'm an adventurer taking a breather from off road, dual sport and road motorcycle/sidecars. I did a lot off camping in tents & hammocks. Looking forward to fifthwheel living, travel and a new page in life.
Happy Trails
Ty
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. This is the place for questions that you may have, so feel free to ask them all. Being as you are in Indiana, the Elkhart area is full of RV manufacturers where you can arrange for factory tours. Look around at units they may interest you and then check out the factories.
Also, if you begin to take a big interest in a particular brand, check for forums for owners of that brand. In our two years of research, I can't even remember the number of forums where I spent time reading.
Just to mention our brand, it is made by DRV Suites out of Howe, Indiana. It is a brand that was designed for those wanting to full-time. Take your time looking and be sure to look at a lot. Don't be dazzled by glitter and glitz. Look closely at the construction of all the units you are interested in, all the way from the wheels on the ground to the roof.
Have fun with the research and planning.
Terry

Welcome from a fellow Hoosier. We spent 2 winters in central Indiana in our Montana and it did well. You do have to take the neccesary precautions on any rig you buy like heat taping the water hose, making sure the sewer hose has a positive flow so no water is trapped in the hose to freeze etc.
I would also look for a unit with dual pane windows as they should help hold the heat in some and are options on most 5th wheels and even standard on some higher end units. Seemed like our biggest "heat thieves" were the slide outs and the windows.
Feel free to jump in and participate.
