Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hey,  Been up to Mackinac many times...we like Wilderness State park and Burt Lake State Park.  Both are close and very scenic and on lower not UP side of bridge.  Not many parks just over in St Ignace.  Mackinac Island is a great place to visit if you've never been...no motorized transportation all horse and buggy.  we like bikes or just walking to spend the day.  You take a high speed ferry to get there.  You will love the beaches Lake Michigan has to offer.  Mackinac City has grown lots over the years...you can spend time looking there as well.  Happy travels...

Yonnie,

CamperBoy Tom was accurate in that there are quite a number of CGs at both ends of the Big Mac Bridge.  He mentioned two great state park CGs and there are many private ones.

Mill Creek CG is a medium size CG with sites right on the lake that is well run and secure.  Not being a fan of KOAs, we were pleasantly surprised at the Mackinaw KOA.  It is relatively small, wooded and the staff was very attentive.  Both are convient to the main arteries and Mackinaw City.

As an aside, my cousin lives in the area and offered that the locals call all tourists "Fudgies", as in Mackinak Cith and on Mackinak Island, you will pass a fudge shop every hundred feet.

Have fun as a Fudgie - a wonderful place to visit!

Take a day to do a boat tour of the Sault St. Marie (Soo) Locks, it is very interesting and fun. If you plan on going west in the UP there are many more sites and camping opportunities.

Like these posts as we will be traveling to the UP in September for a reunion (don't ask me how many!). Found this UP list that might be helpful.

We spent last summer in Michigan, including the Macinac Island area. Check out our blog beginning around July 15-25th. We covered much of the area and the attractions there.

We normally end up in Monroe county at the KOA 20 feet from the freeway for the 4th. It's pretty nice and the kids really enjoy all there is to do. The firework show and the music is always awesome.

I'm from the great north of the U.P.! I'm in the Marquette area which is farther north. If you're actually coming into the U.P. there is the Garland zoo that's pretty awesome for the kids! As for camping areas, when we head to that area we stay in Mackinaw City just south of the bridge. Check out Fort Mackinac also! If you're adventuring farther in, there's a state campground in the Garden Peninsula called Fayette state park. It was once an old town and the buildings are still there to tour. If you go in August they have their heritage days that has people dressed in period clothing doing the activities from that era. Come to think of it, the Fort does that also! The kids would LOVE it!! There's also a water park just south of the bridge too.....good place for kids!

Now in central AZ and snowing here today - go figure!
