Looks great, two questions, how was it getting the new seating through the door of the RV? And how much clearance is required behind in order to recline? Thanks, G

They do look great and I would like to know how you got them in the door as well. I assume the backs come off!?

Gene,

The Theater Seating unit we bought is mounted to common rails on the bottom, all you have to do is unbolt the bottom rails and the unit comes apart into 3 individual pieces. The individual pieces came though the door with no ease, no problems at all. (Also the having the individual pieces are much lighter and easier to handle than the whole unit)
We took it apart, moved it in the 5er and reassembled in the living area in less than 30 minutes.

We did quite a bit of research to find a unit that was durable, comfortable and that was the right width to fit in the limited space in the slide.
As far as clearance, we bought a "Wall Hugger" type unit, in the upright position there is about 2 inches between the Seats and the Wall and it goes into full recline position without hitting the wall. (The "Rocker Type" units require much more clearance behind them so we did not look at them)

We narrowed it down to a Ashley Brand Unit and a Lane Brand Unit that would fit in the slide area and allow the slide to close without hitting anything.
We chose the Lane since this will be our primary daily seating unit and the Lane just looked to be a better built more durable unit.

We did not have to remove the backs, when disassembled into 3 pieces, we turned the individual units sideways and they went through the door with ease.

I like the theater seating, and love seats in general. Unfortunately for my height (6'2") none of them are feasible alone. I always have to use a footstool with them - since the flip out extension for your legs hits me in the calf, which is quite uncomfortable. Just a warning to taller people.

Jack,

I am 6'1" and have no problems with this particular unit, I sat in a lot of them in the stores before finding the right one.

But I understand what you are saying this one just barely fits me, most of the Theater Seating units we looked are challenging for taller people.

Do you know if this seating would fit into the rear portion of the fiver , instead of the side where you have it?

It should fit fine in the rear, it is about 4 Inches longer than the Sleeper Sofa we moved and is a few inches deeper.

The main thing is Measure EVERYTHING Once, then Measure EVERYTHING again!

I must have measured everything in the 5th Wheel and at the Furniture store 5 or 6 times to make sure it would fit right

The only reason we put it in the slide is because our TV / Entertainment Center is in the opposite slide. Wanted to be able to view the TV straight on instead of from the side.

Now the puppy dog can sleep on the back of the sofa and get a great view and suntan from the back window!!!!

We considered moving our La-Z-Boy Reclinaway love seat in the rear of the coach instead of the door side slide. (Jo thought of putting a sewing center where they are now.)

However, when we moved the love seat into that rear area, it was going to be caught by both of the slides when we brought them in. In our case, whatever we put in the rear cannot be deeper than 36". Anything over 36" will be contacted by the slides, even if we push it clear back against the wall and window.

Robert and Debra - must be great minds think alike. Your seating looks just like the one that Cheri and I bought just a couple of months ago. we did away with the fold out couch and placed ours in the slide opposite from the entertainment center also. i find that it it is very good for viewing the TV or catching 40 winks.

Well all the measuring paid off, this week was the first time we have brought the slides in and moved since we bought the Theater Seating unit.

I was a little nervious about it running into the "L" Shaped Kitchen cabinet with the slide in. Guess all the measuring worked out, with the slide in the Theater Seating unit clears the Kitchen cabinet by about 3 inches. The Sleeper Sofa worked fine in its new location by the rear window too.

smile Your theater seating looks great. We have a 5'er toyhauler that gave us a couch and fixed dinet table with a 32 in tv up on the wall above the door. We had a hard time sitting on the couch looking up at the tv. We took out the dinet table move the couch down and installed 2 Lane 28" wide low back wallhugger recliners. Now we enjoy watching tv or taking a nap total cost $800 for recliners (on sale) sold dinet for $200.
