Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Two water issues questions

I have a 10 gallon Atwood water heater. Is there some way to regulate temperature? The water is hot enough to burn.

The faucet in our bathtub has started making a whistling noise when we use the shower. It starts when you pull up on the lever for the shower. Can this be fixed or will I need to replace it?

Thanks,

James

The hot water can be regulated in gas mode by a temperature selection control on the front of the water heater. Access it from the water heater cover on the outside of your RV. I set mine at medium.

In electric mode it is preset at 140 degrees. I don't know if there is an adjustment.

Here's an owners manual:

Here is a list of all owners manuals on the site for other appliances and equipment in RVs:

James,

I am in no way a plumber, but is the whistling going on everywhere that you park and hook to water?

If not, could the noise be related to the water pressure being too high?  Do you have a water pressure regulator?

Or....could there be some mineral buildup in the shower head?

Just a couple of thoughts.

Terry

Ours does it also. Since our rv is geeting on the older side thats what I contribute it to.
It acts like there is a rubber O-ring in the faucet that is worn out. That when you pull up the handle/button the flap that diverts the water doesn't seal completely. It doesn't let water out, but creates suction that creates a squeel.
I may be wrong on this, but its an idea..

Thanks for the replies. I bought a diverter kit at our local rv supply store. It fixed the problem and only cost $3. Easy fix. My water heater has a fixed temperature switch. I pulled it and will test it at work tomorrow. I want to see at what temp. it opens.

Thanks

James
