Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Waiting in Western New York

I'm currently retired and waiting for the wife to retire in 5 years. We currently have a 29' TT that we use as much as her time off will permit.  I usually am able to camp a little more by going to the nearby campgrounds a day or two before her and get set up etc. Once she retires the plan is to get a 5th wheel and spend a year on the road. We joke and say that if after 1 year we haven't killed one another in the smaller living quarters we'll probably just keep going. We're both to active to just retire so we're looking at some sort of work camping to keep us busy. I've read other forums that those that go full timing and look at it as a vacation usually burn out after a year or so, thus the work camping aspects.

Dana,

Welcome to the forums at RV Dreams.  If you haven't discovered already by reading a lot, then let me inform you that this is one of the friendliest sites for doing your research on a future in RV'ing.

There are folks here with just about every type of RV imaginable and they are knowledgeable and willing to help with answers to questions.  So, ask away.

I'd say that your idea of workkamping to keep yourselves out of the "vacation" mode might be a good idea.  It also helps to defray the costs of traveling and/or RV and campground fees.

Since you have 5 years, you should have plenty of time to discover the best fifth wheel for the two of you, provided you don't change your mind and get something different.

Good luck with the planning, research, and looking.

Terry

Dana - Welcome to the forum! I just retired this year and the DW is going to retire next year. We just purchased our home on wheels a few months ago. I've learned a lot from this forum and I'm sure you will as well. Good luck on your adventure.

Welcome to the forum Dana. I see you're from Jamestown...spent my early years growing up in Ashville and navigating Lake Chautauqua. If you guys decide to head west please bring Bison chip dip ;) We're hoping to land a workamper gig somewhere around the lake one of these days, need to get back to visit family and friends, but so far no luck in finding any takers. We recently moved into our condo but hope to get back on the road soon.

You'll find this to be a very friendly and helpful forum, don't hesitate to ask questions.
