Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Friends, I am about fed up with electrical problems. You have all been so helpful on the inverter problem and magnum power was helpful in the fact they got right back to me and explained it sounds like a broken inverter and it looks like I will have to have it fixed. When I discovered the inverter probelm, the power kept turning on and off. I figured it was an electrical issue with the shore power at the park. I got back to our storage place, plugged in the coach and the power was fine. I hung around for about twenty minutes and the power had no probelms. Tonight I went out to check the power and wouldn't you know... no shore power in the coach. Unpugged the power, plugged it back in, heard it turn on and before I could get around the other side the power turned off. So nedless to say, after a 12 hour shift at the hospital I had had enough, unplugged the coach, shut the door and locket it up. We go fulltime again in 30 days and I do not have time for this... The strange thing is, it seems the generator power still works fine. I am tired, frustrated and about to scream. Our coach is a 2009 and we have had nothing wrong until now. We live in rural Texas with no RV center near us. What do you all suggest. Anyone had any similar probelms? Not to mention, while I have your attention, the radio hs always hada probelm, start the engine and the engine sound comes out the speakers!! HAHAHAHA!! I look forward in hearing from you all. - Troy
Strange that it worked for awhile then quit. I wonder if the cooling fans are not working? I assume the coach is not under any extended warranty that would cover the inverter?
Not to second guess the Magnum folks, but it might be worthwhile to see if there is a mobile tech in the area who could check it for you, and replace/repair as necessary. But if your not near where RV'ers gather then it you might not find anyone close.
Second choice would be to order a replacement inverter (if they can get it to you before you leave) and just replace it yourself.

If you don't have time for these kinds of problems you are never going to be a happy RVer. These are the kinds of ongoing problems that we all deal with on a fairly regular basis. If it's not electrical today it will be plumbing or chassis or drive train or plumbing tomorrow. I don't mean to minimize your problem, I just want you to take a deep breath, realize that RVing is not easy and the RV is full of equipment that takes shaking unlike any earthquake your house might experience and it experiences these rumblings many times per week/month/year whether the equipment was designed for this kind of abuse or not.
Had the same strange problem for a while before my Surge Guard ATS (automatic transfer switch) went up in smoke. The trailer was less than 6 months old. I did not have a gennie but had the generator prep which include the switch. Shore power goes through this device and it can shut you off.
I agree it sounds like a transfer switch. Either the one the genset goes through or the internal transfer switch in the inverter. To tell if it is the inverter transfer switch, when you have "no power" try the airconditioner. If it works, then it is the inverter transfer switch because the the power flowing to the AC does not go through the inverter and the inverter subpanel.
