Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We will be going to our daughter's in VA the first week of Nov. We're leaving MO and traveling East. I know West Virginia is mostly all mountains. We'll be going on I-64. Can anyone give us an idea of what kind of ups and downs we'll be going through and what the interstate is like? It would be nice to have an idea of what we might run into.
Thank you!

Visited my kids there last year and found it an fairly easy drive. They call them mountains but are really just big hills,at least in the northern part. You shouldn't have that much trouble.

RVing probably not a reality any more.It was a good time while it lasted.
DOT is working on the I-64 bridge over the river in Louisville. Lots of delays, especially during peaks. I would ccome down thru Evansville, Indiana and the Pennyrille Pkwy to the Western Ky Pkwy. to Lexington Ky. Watch the forcast close, as it is getting colder and ice or snow could be a culprit. Pieere
You coulld also jump on I-24 and go back on I-81 if you don't mind a few extra miles.

Concerning the “ups and downs,” WV is just fine.Really, no big deal.No worse, or better, than Virginia, Pennsylvania or Tennessee, etc. on the Interstates as to grades and difficulty.
We drive WV all the time with a big fiver and it is just another state with some mountains, but nothing to be concerned about.
We live in Louisville and the bridge will not be open until March or April of 2012.
Assuming I understand the bridge you are referring too, why can’t you just take I-265 around to the North and then US-31 South to rejoin I-64?All “4 lane” and I’ll bet a dollar to donuts that is the posted detour.
Shouldn’t be a big problem, should it? Always good to get the locals info.
We looked at several options and it looks like taking I 265 around to I 65 and going across that bridge and catching I 64 from I 65. We will take the suggestion of asking truckers while we're gassing up or eating, etc., who travel it all the time.
Thanks for all your help! As usual, you all alieve my fears and allow me to sleep better at night.

Just Watch your time for rush hour traffic and accidents. I came East on I-71 to I-265 west to I-65 south 2 weeks ago around the 3:30 pm hour on a Thursday and an accident held me up for 1 1/2 hrs. Just a heads up! Pieere

Thanks for the warning! We'll try to time it mid-morning.
