Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Water Pump

Has anyone replaced their water pump with one of the quite ones. Are they as quite as they claim? I also notice most have a higher flow rate, any pros or cons to this? confuse

I have replaced demand water pumps on both boats and motorhomes.  If you shop for lower end pricing, you couldl be doing so again not too far down the road.  Get one of the better brands, and do not get the lower price offering.  There is a reason they cost more.

One of the first things I replaced on my MH was the water pump. The OE made a lot of noise and when I saw what was installed I couldn't believe the manufacturer put such a cheap pump in a custom built coach.   Anyway..., installed one of the ShurFlo pumps that is supposed to have an output of 5.7 gpm and deliver pressure up to 65 psi.  Not sure if it measures up to the specs but it is much, much quieter, and the pressure is great.  The more one uses it the better it gets.  Before you make a decision check out rotary pumps also.  Good luck.

Same here, removed the cheap Shurflo 2 gpm pump with the Shurflo 5.7 gpm. While it's quieter I can still hear it when in use. Probably needs to have the Shurflo rubber mount to dampen some of the noise, but on my setup I was lucky to even get it to fit in my water compartment as it is much bigger than the original pump.

Went through 3 5.7s in 3 years. The warranty is good but be prepared to replace them on a regular basis. If you are regularly at parks with water service get the cheapy 2088 or the new one (I forget the name). They may be noisy but they last.

I think I'm going to give one of the 5.7's a try. The one I have now will wake up the dead! We'll see what happens.

We quieted the standard water pump in our old motorhome by taking a piece of thick foam and mounting it between the pump and the wall. Cheaper than a new pump.

We actually like that the pump makes some noise we can hear, it reminds us we are not hooked to water and thus we conserve.
