Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

What truck??

Good morning!! So we are looking at 2 trucks and wanted to get opinions.

1.) 2004 Ford F250 6.0 engine diesel 115,000 miles

2.) 2003 Chevy 2500 6-0 engine gas 77,000 miles

We are pulling a ultra light 5th wheel about 7000#

Thoughts??

You will see from my signature that we own a 2006 Ford 6.0 L diesel. This truck has runs and pulls like a dream. We have not had one single issue with it since day one. I prefer Ford over Chevy for several reasons, mostly personal, but feel up until 2011, Ford has made a superior product. If looking at a 2011, though, would now have to strongly consider Chevy also. That being said, we also had a 2003 6.0 that was nothing but problems from day on until we traded it on the 2006. The Ford 6.0 L diesel was a very problematic engine between 2003 - 2005. I have heard and read that if a 6.0 runs good up to 30,000 then it is probably a good engine. Our 2006, has not had a single issue and is still running strong, but only has 36,000 on it. However 90% of the miles are towing, so appears that the second time we got a good 6.0. I would recommend you request a service report on both trucks and compare. If the ford has had any major warranty work performed, it could very well be one of the problem engines built between 2003-2005. Good luck with your choice.
