Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Route Planning -- Austin, TX to Coffeyville, KS

We're starting to do a little route planning for our upcoming trip from Austin, TX to Coffeyville, KS for my Amazon gig starting in September.

We're looking for some advice/recommendations/thoughts on routing and places to visit on the way.  We're trying to learn to travel more slowly... lol

We saw Speedy wrote in his blog about discovering the Chickasaw Cultural Center near Sulphur, OK and we've put that on the list tentatively.  We're considering spending at least one night at the Chickasaw National Recreation area.  Sounds like a nice place for a stop over.

I know Terry and Jo are in OK so I'm hoping for some ideas from the local folks...

Of course we're thinking we also need to stop in Alvarado, TX at Motorhome Specialists.  They have a MH on consignment there that we keep looking at on the website.  Maybe if we stop to look at it we'll feel better about not being able to get it just yet... lol

Carol,

I have no idea of your interests, but if you like some museums, there are a number here in Oklahoma City that are interesting.  The most popular is probably the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum:

Then there is the 45th Infantry Museum:

And also in the same area is the Firefigher's Museum:

The Oklahoma Science museum:

Last, but not least, is the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum built to commemorate the loss of life in the Murrah Federal Bombing in 1995.

Thanks Terry. The cowboy museum and the 45th Division Museum look kind of interesting. Will need to think about timing... Neither one looks like someplace we would want to pull our 40ft 5th wheel into... So that would mean spending a night in the area. Could be a possibility. Thanks again!

Carol,

I have seen a number of RV's (including fifth wheels and trucks) in the Western Heritage Museum parking lot before.  Not sure about parking at the 45th museum though.

Not sure what you have planned as far as stops, but all but the Murrah Bombing memorial are within a few miles of each other, and they are located near an RV park on the NE side of OKC called Twin Fountains RV Park.

Huh!!  Twin Fountains RV Park is just across the fence from where Jo and I live.  Now, they (Twin Fountains) might be more expensive than some of the other places, but you can check out their website here.

Hey, I'm learning new stuff with hyperlinks.   Cool.  (I wish.....still have 100+ heat here.)

I just noticed on Twin Fountains' website is a whole list of other places under the heading of Local Attractions.
