Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have a 2011 Fuzion 302 5th wheel trailer we just bought three weeks ago and there are lights on the floor as you exit the camper that stay on when the door is open. They shut off when the door is closed but also come on at night and stay on all night. Is this normal and does it drain the battery? The dealership could not answer this question. I don't mind them staying on at night, just don't like them staying on with the door open with the screen door closed.
Not being familar with the Fuzion at all, but just guessing if the lights come on when the door is opened then there must be some kind of switch om the door or door frame (probably hinged side). This switch could be altered in such a way as to keep the lights from coming on when it is opened. Maybe something a simple as duct taping it down so it thinks the door is closed all of the time. As far as coming on when it getss dark there must be some kind of photo eye that detects darkness? You may be able to disconnect it. And yes (if not plugged into shore power) it is draning the battery, if plugged in then don't worry about the battery drain.

If you are not connected to shore power and the lights remain lit then you are draining your batteries unnecessarily and will lead to the eventual death of your batteries. If you have shore power then there is likely no issue.
Are the lights on with the door open or closed or only with the door open and the screen closed (or with the door open or closed)?
"Are the lights on with the door open or closed or only with the door open and the screen closed (or with the door open or closed)?"
The lights come on when the door is opened in the daylight and stay on if you leave it open just using the screen door. Then they go off when you close the door, but they come back on sometime during the night with the door still closed. I looked at the door as did my husband and neither one of us could find any switch nor anything that looked like a photo-sensor eye.
This may not be an answer but the switch to our floor lights is by the bathroom. If you have some light switches that you don't know what they're for these may be your floor lights. Just a thought . . .
