Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hi All,

Well, it's been a busy season for me in Maine. For all of you that have met me at the rallies, Yes ! the house is now rented for at least the year. I was either going to put it on the market or rent it. First person that showed up to see it, took it for the year. Maybe two years with the option to buy if I choose to sell. Gives me room to think things over and travel around for while without having to return here next summer.

Now to begin my adventure. I want to leave Maine in a few weeks and head to the Great Lakes. I know plenty of you can advise me what and where I have to see and do. Any information will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I couldn't meet up with Howard and Linda this summer. They are close by but our timing isn't right.

Try to stop in the Saugatuck and Douglas area when you're in Michigan. Wonderful artsy area, cool shops, and it's right on Lake Michigan.

We just left the upper Michigan area and loved the Soo Locks. It's well worth it and there's a couple RV parks right on the river to watch the ships.  We chose Aune-Osborn, Sault Ste Marie, MI. Take the tour of the locks it's only a mile away.  Enjoy your travels and be safe.

Silver lake sand dunes is a fun place if you have a 4X4. You can drive out on the sand dunes and park your truck on the beach of Lake Michigan. Also Makinac island is nice. You have to take a ferry across because they don't have any vehicles (except the fire trucks) on the island. You get around by walking, biking or horse carriage. Enjoy.

Door County Wisconsin is a great area just northeast of Green Bay, WI. Probably best to avoid holiday weekends like Labor Day unless you like crowds! There are several state parks, lighthouses and campgrounds in the county which has Lake Michigan to the east and the bay of Green Bay to the west.

The RV park(s) referenced above are in MI. Very nice. We took the loop up 75 to Mackinac (Mackinaw) Island and Sault St. Marie and then came back down the entire length of Lake Michigan on the East side. Stops in Petoskey and Traverse City get you out to Sleeping Bear Dunes and then down along the coast. I don't remember where all we stopped as there are just lots of nice stops along the way. We would like liked to have done the top of the UP heading over toward WI so if I were to do it again I would likely go N on 31 along the coast and then to Traverse City and Petoskey followed by the Island and Soo. Then take in the sights across the top of Lake MI and into WI.

Years ago we had a good time staying at Association Island RV Resort, http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/New_York/Henderson_Harbor.html, in Henderson Harbor, NY. It was much closer to Maine than MI and WI. Lots to do with the Thousand Islands close by. But I will also agree that Michigan and Wisconsin are great.

Just got back home from Michigan---love it up there.  Two things you cant miss,  along the west coast up in the north corner is Sleeping Bear Dunes, Northwest of Travers City. Outstanding place, dunes like you wouldn't belive. Also in the UP go to a small town called Munising, take a ferry out of the harbor to see The Pictured Rocks along Lake Superior coast.  WOW!!!!   There are lots of small towns with lighthouses and real charm.   Ludington--Charlivox  just beatiful little places.
