Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Anyone have any knowledge of Nexus RV a relatively new company out of Elkhart IN., building Class C and Class B RVs and selling directly to the public at very nice prices?
From reading some of the website pages it sounds like the RVs maybe a little more expensive than comparable units.
There is a similar type company that manufactures LAZY DAZE motorhomes. You buy from the factory. http://www.lazydaze.com/ They've been in business for a very long time.

The biggest issue I would have with Nexus is their limited time of being in business. If you could contact them and ask them for names and addresses of previous buyers, that might help get a feel for the company. From their "Testimonials" page, there were very few and one was very limited in their comment.
If I had a business and had received testimonials, I'd make sure that those that got published would be more extensive.
While I don't know anything about either Nexus or Lazydays, I can only say that I have heard of Lazydays before and seen some of their units on the road. I don't recall seeing any Nexus units.
However, don't rule Nexus out. Talk to them. They might be inclined to lower their price at times to make the sale. Who knows....if you got them to build you one, you might be able to get them to leave you a spot for a painting on the wall. You know.....something with "critters" in it.

Good thoughts from others. Lazy Daze has been around for years with a good reputation. Even they had to start back when, so the years may not mean they are better than Nexus, just proven.
My problem with asking for names of satisfied customers is that is precisely what you will get. No manufacturer is going to give you any name that they do not know will give the a glowing report. It is somewhat like asking an applicant for a job for references - who would provide any reference that would not give a glowing report?
From a long distance, with a very new manufacturer, it may be difficult to obtain information that is reassuring.

Thanks Tery & Roz - my concern also is the newness of the company and how they will hold up in this economy. Lazy Daze is quite expensive - certainly more than I'm looking to spend - whereas Nexus on same size Class c's was $20,000 cheaper. Of course there may be good reason for this. Bears more investagation certainly. We've got a house to sell B4 we can do anything! I've got time to research however. Thanks for the comments - I agree.
. . . this does not sound like splitting hairs, but . . .
The precise difference between "cheaper" and "less expensive" is the first actually speaks to quality, or lack thereof, while the latter speaks to price. Somewhere in between is "value". More often than not, the best value is closer to less expensive than cheaper.
Doing homework can be both fun and frustrating.

"Cheaper" was merely a choice or words not a indication that cheaper is better. I always buy quality and you are correct in that doing homework can be fun and frustrating - but is of course certainly necessary. I would never order any RV from ANY mfg without going to their facility and seeing for myself. Your points are certainly correct -
My name is Claude Donati, I am the President and Co-founder, along with Dave Middleton of Nexus RV.
Hopefully, my input will not be seen as intrusive, but I would like to respond to some of the great questions and input on this forum. First, we are a new company that is true. But we are very experienced in manufacturing RVs. In fact, we have over 25 employees building motor homes everyday and the average exeperience is 13.5 years. Personally, in my own experience, I led a group of people that have sold over 45,000 Class C motor homes since 1994. We developed some very good Class C and Class B+ products. Products like BT Cruiser, Endura, Conquest as well as SuperNova Super C. Our team is qualified and prepared to build the best class c/b+ in the industry.
We put our first Class C on line February 14th of this year. Since then we have built and delivered over 60 units. The first 45 went to a dealer in Alaska for their rental fleet. We have received great feedback about the performance of our units and we are excited that we immediately deliver a competitive product out of the gate. We have also delivered additional units within the last few weeks and are deliver another 10-14 this month. Our first Viper products are getting to the market in August and we look forward to getting feedback on these awesome units.
We have established a facebook page so our customers can post about their experience and quality of Nexus RV. We are urging people to give us feedback because being factory direct allows us to make improvements immediately. And in a short period of time, we have already made many improvements based on customer feedback. This system of selliing directly gives us fuel to improve.
We have three goals with this business model. First, we are saving people thousands of dollars, to this point, we have calculated a $7,100 dollar saving for each person that bought from us. Secondly, we allow our customers to have input on their unit. Items like interior appointments, paint colors, furniture style, etc.. Thirdly, we are delivery the very best buying experience possible. We are focused on the customer. Contrary to our past of focusing on our dealer body, we do everything with the customer in mind.
Finally, nothing matters if the product is not right. We are building the best designed unit. The foundation of the unit starts with our Pillar of Strength construction philosophy. All Lightweight Steel framing, Azdel substrates, automotive window seals, Seamless Fiberglass Roof, Stamped Metal roof truss system and high density brick foam insulation puts our customer safety and comfort at the top of our list of concerns.
Our business is well financed with some very strong business investors. We have a beautiful facility on the Indiana 80/90 toll road in Elkhart, Indiana. We have a 25,000 in-door showroom adjacent to our well organized lean manufacturing facility with 86,000 square foot of production space. Check us out nexusrv.com.
I hope my post is not intrusive, but I wanted to respond to some great questions and comments made about our newly formed company. There is probably too much to write in one post, but I wanted to give everyone a progress report.
First, we began our production on February 14th of this year. We were fortunate enough to receive a couple of sizeable rental contracts from our friends in the industry. This project was perfect for us as it allowed us to set up our production facility and train our people on the Nexus way of producing high quality Class C and Class B+ products. In addition to the rental units, we have delivered an additional 15 units to retail customers. Many of which have commented on our Facebook page and have offered up testimonails posted on our website.
Although we are a new company, we are very experienced in building Class C and Class B+ products. Our average experience among our production staff is 13.5 years. Within the first 10 units delivered to our Rental customer we made adjustments and our products became competitive with the industry giants. Our staff is outstanding and they understand what it takes to build quality units.
We have saved our customers an average of $7,100 dollars per unit based on buying factory direct. Although this is a huge benefit and reason to buy factory direct, we also focus on giving customers input to the way their unit is built and we want to deliver the best buying experience possible. So far, we have been delivery those three things.
We have much more to say and look forward to any customer input as our business model is based on focusing all our effort on the customer and not focusing on the dealer.
Thank you for that post Claude - I will continue to look at your products during my research phase. You speak to the heart & sole of what a business should be all about today!!
I looked at the site and the videos and I have to say I'm impressed. And it takes a fair amount to impress me. I love class C's and have looked at the Lazy Daze as an example of "best of breed". A LD was always my first choice in a C, which we are looking for to add to our existing RV. I have studied the LD for years. And I have to say that I believe that the Nexus is a nicer rig. I'm anxious to see one.
I assume they will be at Tampa in January, and I will be there as well. Likely with New Horizons.

Jack - Racerguy - I also was very impressed with the videos and the great quality that went into the product. We are interested in a 31' and want to go on a tour of the facility. I think the pricing is quite nice as well. Racerguy - please keep this topic updated with your findings. Thanks Rvpainter.
As I said, I'm very interested in seeing one....it looks very good on the surface. But until you actually see one in person it is hard to tell. I'm as interested in the "infrastructure" as in the surface stuff. But I like what I see so far. What they are doing makes a lot of sense.

After talking with both the owners of Nexus as well as doing some more research on them, DW and I have decided to go to their facility and LOOK! We may be close to selling the house (a person very interested) and as soon as we do we shall venture to their facility. I like everything I see and once we see it for ourselves, and all is what it should be, we most likely will become customers. Just think if nobody ever bought a Winnebago - where would they be today? New startup company or not, if the quality is there - we will have no hesitation becomming a customer. I'll keep ya posted.
Wow, great news on the house front, hope all goes smoothly for you. I think you are making a good choice by going to the factory and seeing the Nexus RVs built from the ground up. It will give you great peace of mind knowing what kind of quality product they build.
Hopefully, Nexus will have plenty of room for your painting supplies!
Best Regards!

The potential buyer did not submit an offer!!! Story is they got skid-ish and may sign it tomorrow. They viewed our home 3 times during the past week. They fly back to Washington state this afternoon so my guess is they will never be heard from again!!! Oh well - back to the drawing board - got to go buy a couple of extra lottery tickets now!!! :>) So close yet so far!
Yesterday we had a fellow New Mexican come to Nexus and purchase their Viper 29V. They will have their unit in late October and drive it back to Albequerque. I was hopeful you would be the first, but you can still be the first Phantom New Mexican. I wish you luck in selling your house and we look forward to hosting your visit to our factory.
Thanks Claude - yesterdays buyer got cold feet but we are still hopeful!!! If not the first Phantom New Mexican perhaps the first Santa Fe buyer!!! Thanks for the good wishes!

Congratulations on the selling of your house! In this market of hit and miss you must be excited about that sale. We are excited and priviliged to have you visit our facility. As we get closer let us know the details and dates of your journey to Elkhart, Indiana.
We are going to be in Hershey Pennsylvania at a Large RV show creating some sales for the new englanders prior to their winter. We will be back in our office on the 19th of September.
We look forward to meeting you and showing why Nexus RV is different from all other RV manufacturers.
THANKS GENECOP, JANNI AND CLAUDE! ONLY THE HOUSE INSPECTION AND APPRAISAL TO GO!! TODAY WE ARE GOING TO LOOK AT A SMALL CASITA TO RENT FROM A PERSON MY WIFE KNOWS FROM THE YOGA STUDIO.
CLAUDE - WE WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH DAVID AND TALK ABOUT OUR TIME FRAME TO COME SEE YOU GUYS!!!! IT WILL BE SOMETIME EARLY OCTOBER BASED ON OUR CLOSING THE END OF SEPTEMBER.
Well --- we had the home inspection today AND the appraisal all at the same time - so now we sit and wait for the results. STRESS-STRESS-STRESS!!! Glad we are retired as we are used to waiting!!!! :>)
Assuming all comes out well, come early October we will be on our way to Elkhart Indiana to check out the Nexus Class C Phantom 31P and if all is as I anticipate it will be we shall PLACE OUR ORDER!!!!! AT LAST!!!!!!!
October 2011 MotorHome magazine had a nice review of this RV.
THE APPRAISAL CAME IN RIGHT ON THE MONEY AND THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE OF VERY SMALL ITEMS ON THE HOME INSPECTOR'S LIST. NOW WE ARE JUST WAITING FOR A CLOSING DATE. BASED ON THAT, IT WILL BE OUT TO ELKHART INDIANA AND CHECK OUT NEXUS AND I'M SURE PUT OUR ORDER IN FOR A 31P CLASS C RV FOR DELIVERY THE END OF MARCH 2012. IN THE MEANTIME WE'LL RENT HERE IN SANTA FE FOR 6 MONTHS.

Thanks Laura and janni - we are praying everyday that the fat lady will be singing - nothing is certain until the proceeds are in the Bank!! Every day that is a step closer!!! :>)
Thanks GENECOP - I subscribe to that and thought it was a great article - has me even more ready to sign on the dotted line. Hope to be out there at their site come early October.
Well - as each day passes we get closer to closing on our home. The buyers are scheduled to close on their home around 9/23 - 9/24 and are asking for a closing on our home around 9/27-9/28. We are pretty well packed up and will be moving most of our "stuff" to a climate controlled storage "bunker" this coming weekend 9/17-9/18 which is necessary due to the buyer's schedule. Keeping back enough to stay in this area renting until 4/1/12.
As soon as the fat lady sings - we are off to Elkhart Indiania to check out the 31P Nexus and all being equal, we will place our order for our RV to be delivered around 4/1/12.
Very exciting times - in addition my wife will be publishing her first middle grade novel around the beginning of October - very exciting times!!!!!!!
Just waiting to hear the lovely fat lady sing!!!! :>)
Good to know things are going well with your house sale, Dick. I sure don't envy you the chore of packing things up and moving but having that light at the end of the tunnel will surely keep you charged up! Congrats to Melissa on the book too!

Thanks RVRON for your kind words and well wishes to Melissa. One of the reasons for us delaying our F/T start to April 2012 is the release of her book. She has several book signings scheduled starting in November - all in cold climates of course - so we figured we'd wait until the hype of the book release had quieted down. Plus it gives us a chance to sock away $6,000+ just on the 6 month savings MTG vs Rent and this will be a good thing. We can add this to our travelling reserve account. Again thanks for the encouragement. Dick
On the market for a class C and interested to hear your exchange of comments on the Nexus Class C. Started off leaning towards a Winnebago/Itasca View/Navion as I liked the idea of the Mercedes sprinter and the stylish interiors of these models. The inside of the majority of new motorhomes I have seen tend to look like something out of the '70s. Then I discovered the Canadian company Triple E. Even though they use the Ford E series (on their C Class), their interiors, design features, equipment and finish to me seems unbeatable... but they are pricey. Then I stumbled across the Nexus website and the article in Motorhome magazine on the company. I like the way you can personalize your RV, and most of all, I like their prices. However, I am worried whether Nexus' lower prices means an inferior product and that I will regret it (and pay for it) in the future. Certainly Nexus doesn't seem to use solid wood cabinetry like Triple E, and doesn't come with all the added features like winter insulation, but I am also wondering what is missing from those parts you don't see? I guess it might be a case of "you get what you pay for". Any advice?
Have you watched all the videos on the Nexus web site??? My advice would be to contact the owners - they are more than willing to talk to people and answer any questions you may have. Also we will be going out the their factory/showroom early in October to match up what we have read and seen in their videos to the actual product. I am pretty certain we will be signing an order form.
Winter travel is the last thing I would ever use our RV for - we don't want to visit any place that goes below 60 degrees :>) so this is not an issue with us. I seem to have a different understanding regarding solid wood cabinets - and the appliances seem to be brand names. They do have a winter package upgrade - not sure what it consists of but as I say - not an issue for us - other than perhaps sound control.
Claude and David will welcome your inquiry - I have found them very eager to communicate and discuss any issues.
I don't think the price is an issue of inferior construction or hidden pitfalls or less than good appliances found in most Class C RV's, but is a direct savings brought about by eliminating the middle man who causes the high prices.
Assuming our house sale goes to completion I'm betting we have a signed order for our Nexus RV no later than 10/15.
Thanks RVPainter for your comments. I have looked at the videos from Nexus but there is nothing like seeing the product in real life. I look forward to reading what you have to say about the company and their RVs after your visit.
If you haven't already, have a look at Triple E's website and their videos. I bet you will be impressed and the company really does raise the bar on what quality means in a RV (and by the way, I don't work for the company). Purchasing any other RV will only mean compromises. Triple E manufacture their own cabinetry (not like Nexus) and do not have vinyl covered chairs included with their so called "leather option". As for your plans not to RV where it can go below 60 degrees, it can get below 60 in the evenings in Northern California in the summer!
