Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

From San Antonio to Tampa "Palmetto"FL

Heading out on our first long trip this week. It will be us and Fuji the dog.  Going to be about 1,200-1,300 miles

We are hoping to stay pretty close to the coast. Any good spots you have been along the way, We should visit ?  I hope to take 4-5 days to get there.

Once you reach Florida I'd suggest a couple of places:

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in the panhandle near Destin is probably the nicest SP in Florida.  It used to be a full amenity private RV park and to prevent development the state bought it.  Full hookups (including cable) and a shuttle to the beach all at state park prices.

Another state park would be St. George Island SP just off the coast of Apalachicola.  It's a barrier island completely devoid of commercialization and the entire eastern of the island is nature preserve.  You'll find the perfect white sand beach and cobalt  blue water and beach all to yourself if you're interested.

Cedar Key is a quaint artsy town down the west coast a ways and is great to visit for a few days.  Be sure to take the very inexpensive plane ride to see all of the keys from the air. Last time we were there we stayed at Sunset Isle RV Park.

As far as routing is concerned, if you're not in a hurry, stick to US 98 from the panhandle all the way to Tampa. It'll take you as close as you can get to the Gulf of Mexico as you can get.
