Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

New York state

We are looking to spend a month or so in the northern/western part of New York State.  Any campground info or sights not to miss would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Check out Rhinebeck NY, a real nice town on the Hudson, right off the Taconic, a lot to see. I was seasonal at Interlake RV Resort, we liked it.....

Which way are you heading, Phyllis? Over toward the St. Lawrence area, or in the direction of Lake Champlain and Vermont? Or I should probably ask how far north are you planning to travel? When people say northern NY, I think really NORTH, when often they are speaking of areas south of where I live in the Capital District (Albany area). smile

While Rhinebeck is not true North, it is Northwest of NYC, about 2.5 hrs away, if you want to go Uppppp North, The Adirondacks is the place to go.

What do you want to do for a month? We are in Cooperstown, NY for a month and are staying here until July 16 or so. It's a nice park. Cooperstown is a great little town. Baseball Hall of Fame is here, a Farmer's Museum, a gorgeous lake, a short drive up to the Adirondacks and the finger lakes region.

We spent 30 years living in the Rochester, NY area.  There is SO much to see in the area - we probably didn't see everything there was to see in 30 years!

It depends on what you want to see and do but the Finger Lakes area is definitely picturesque.  Watkins Glen is beautiful with a very nice state park with waterfalls along nature walks.  If you're into winery tours there are lots of them throughout the Finger Lakes area. Many of the smaller towns in the area have festivals so that might be something to look for.

Letchworth State Park is beautiful, especially in the fall.  It's a huge (by eastern standards) gorge and is nicknamed "The Grand Canyon of the East".

If you get around Corning, definitely try to get to the Corning Museum of Glass.

Of course you can't go to western NY without a visit to Niagara Falls! The entire Lake Ontario shoreline area is great.

As for campgrounds, we stayed at a lot of them but it's been years.  I do remember Hickory Hill in Bath being nice.  If you get up near Rochester, try to get a site at Webster Park Campground.

I'm sure there's a lot more that I have forgotten over the years so just ask and maybe you'll jog my memory!
