Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Jury Summons

My DW just got a Jury Summons in the mail from our County of residence. Does anyone have knowledge on how to deal with these when you are full timers? Do you still HAVE to appear on the assigned date or is there a loop-hole for getting an exemption.

Thanks for any insight.

I would just call them and let them know where you are. I have been out of town for long periods before and that is all I did. They told me not to worry about it. Of course my home county is a rural farm community, don't know if that works in a big city type area.

Not a loop hole at all, just the law. Use the form you were sent, turn it over and thell them you are goiing to be out of town on an extended trip. They will reschedule, but you will be out of town again. Worst that can happen is the Sheriff will knock on the door (you do not have in his county) and take you to jury duty. He will have a hard time finding a door to knock on.

Timely since we are at our home base while my wife has jury duty. They originally tried to schedule her for October but they have a way to say "I am not here but will be back on such a date" so they rescheduled to this week. Each county is different.

If you are an Escapee with a Livingston, TX address, at least for the 411th District Court in Polk County, it is very easy.  I got a summons last month.  I called the clerk and explained that I am an Escapee and not currently in Livingston.  The clerk merely asked for the summons number and excused me.  She requested that I come in and volunteer for jury duty the next time I am in Livingston.  If you are summoned for federal jury duty, they may not be so accomodating.

I appreciate all of the responses. I think that wife is going to call this morning and try and reschedule for another month..or year LOL. And then reschedule again and again until they forget us....fat chance on that I think.

Thanks again...
