LTE 4G Amplifiers on the horizon!

Don't hold your breath on the 8 weeks. I was field testing the SCT wireless amp in Sept. last year and it did not get through FCC approvals until December. And it was fully compliant when entering testing.

How did the SCT amp work out for you Jack? I'm really excited to see what type of results we see with this new amplifier, and like you said it may take a little while to get the final approval. The time frame I've given is an estimate and with any luck may be available. I'll be sure to keep you guys up to date on the test results and when we have a concrete date.

Mallo, this test system is a direct connect solution. So, it wouldn't work in the wireless sense like the products we discussed on the phone last week. If the direct connect solution is working well I'm sure a wireless system will be just around the corner though!

Matt, I have tested the Wilson mobile amps and the SCT. The SCT perfforms quite well. Far better than the Wilson. It is the only wireless amp that I will recommend. Results of the testing are on my website in the communications section. You can download the test results file....look at the beginning of the section.

Which frequencies are being amplified? I never saw the answer to that on the Escapees forum. If it is not amplifying 700,800 and 1900 it is really not that useful for a traveller - although just a 700 amp might be great for someone in a 700mhz Verizon fixed location.

I would love to have a wireless router that is just as fast as my home band.. Is there anythng out there? I use my iPad as my laptop, and we
Video over the Internet to see an hear our kids ( forgot what that's called). I know 4g is better then 3G but does that really make a difference?
My wife uses her the laptop, what should o get? clearwire? verizon? Who??

4G cellular connections will be about as fast as most home connections once they are common. 3G connections average out around 1mbps or perhaps a little less - ewith some locations doing a little better. Far slower than most home connections but fine for browsing, email, and YouTube videos. And Skype works fine at that speed.

The biggest issues with cellular data are the fact that if you do much video at all you will over-run the 5gb plans, and potentially the 10gb ones. Millenicom 20gb plan is good and you are unlikely to over-run it unless you start watching movies online.

Verizon is the best provider for travellers. Their data network is the best if you look at it from a nationwide perspective. At this point in time I'd recommend the WiFiRanger router with a Verizon USB modem. I'd probably go with Millenicom for a 3G solution with 20gb of data. This has no contract so you can jump off it at any time and move to 4G. You mioght want to check the Communications section of my website.

I don't have an exact answer for you on this yet. Victor is doing the amp testing and I haven't had a chance to catch up with him yet and find out all the details. I'll let you know when I get an answer!

Verizon's new 4G LTE network is plenty fast and so is Sprint's 4G WiMAX network. What area are you looking to get service in? I can check coverage and see what type of options are available to you.

If you'll be doing a lot of travelling I'd recommend Verizon though, as they have the largest coverage throughout the U.S.

What about that clear wire ,,I'm looking for a wireless router so I can use my iPad we don't play games over the Internet ..more for surfing and paying bills and staying in touch with family,, would like to use it with netflexs and pandora . We are not high end users moving a lot of data over the Internet.

Are you going to be traveling? If so the answer is no to Clear wire. If you are going to be in a fixed location then it might work for you but you need to talk to them about their specific limitations.

We will be traveling from spot to spot for up to 3 months at a time... I was also going to get an antenna to get a boost

If you mean spot to spot in the same town then you can check to see if Clearwire has coverage in the areas that you will be stopping at. If you mean you will be traveling from State to State then I do not believe Clearwire will function outside of your home town or will work like Cricket where you have to be centrally located in specific cities for coverage.

Clear/Clearwire/Sprint4G are the same coverage so you can use the Sprint coverage maps to see where they work. Go to http://www.sprint.com , go down to the bottom and select "See Wireless Coverage", then select "4G" and you will get:

4G is available in select cities, only on 4G-capable devices.

Enter your location in the search box above to look for 4G coverage. Then look for your device on the 4G devices list to the right to make sure you can take advantage of super-zippy 4G speeds.

It is not a pretty picture for travelers since the majority of the country has no 4G coverage.

Hello guys, I've got some repeater details for you and it wasn't what I was thinking. This system is actually a wireless repeater system consisting of a 70dB repeater with a Yagi antenna. It wouldn't be applicable for an RV installation but would be great for a home install. This system is going to be a monster though, in testing with a stand alone antenna we were achieving around -72dB and with the repeater system at 8 feet away saw signal hit -37dB! Although my news isn't all bad, I got the word that our techs and Wilson have confirmed that our Mag Mount antenna will support 4G LTE :)

This antenna should offer roughly a 2dB gain on the 4G LTE frequency. So, it's not as huge as what we'll be offering in the near future but at least it gives you an alternative till will offer some higher gain Omni's for the 4G LTE frequency.
