Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am new to this. I have a popup camper. My problem is with my propane system. When I use the gas stove in my camper, sometimes it works, but sometimes, it does not. I know my propane tank is not empty. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
Are you shutting the propane bottle off between uses? If so are you opening the valve slowly when you turn it on? The tank has an excess flow valve on it and will not let propane flow if you turn it on too fast.Maybe the times it works you are opening it slow enough for it to work.

Thank you Mr. Racerguy, for your response. No, I did not shut the propane gas off between use. I shut it off only during towing. I did read somewhere about the pressure equalizing requirement and I have tried turning the gas on very slowly. That does not solve the problem. I don't know if this mean anything, but I have also tried using the propane tank at home with my BBQ grill, and it works fine. So I know there is nothing wrong with the tank.
When you say it "doesn't work", do you mean that no propane flows to the stove at all? Do you have air coming out of the stove burners - you should hear a hissing sound or if you use a flame (match or lighter) to light it, does the flame flicker? If you wait a while with the burner turned on does the propane eventually start to flow?

Hi Ron. To answer your question, no propane flows to the stove at all. No air flow either (lighter flame does not flicker. I have not tried wating with the burner turned on to see if the propane eventually flows. That is what I will try next. Thank you.
Twister, given your troubleshooting, you have a failed pressure regulator. Time to take the regulator from the propane grill at home and pipe it in for a final test. If that works, a trip to a propane supply is in order. If it doesn't, there might be a pinch or break in the propane supply line.

I'd agree with the regulator problem. It's really the only thing between the tank and the stove that could possibly be causing an intermittant problem. If it was a kinked or pinched line it would cause a consistant lack of flow.
