Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Has anyone ever stayed at Loft Mountain campground in Shenandoah National Park? It gets good reviews. We are trying to plan a trip in the Summer and thought I would see if anyone here has stayed there.

Thanks Jim, that is where I read the reviews. I guess ill see how we do at dry camping. We did it with a tent I guess we can do it with a 5th wheel. should be fun.
We've stayed at Loft Mt in Shenandoah National Park many, many times between 1982-2004 (tent, pop-up, and travel trailer). Loft Mt was our favorite campground in Shenandoah. The sites are nicer than Big Meadows. Lots of white-tail deer come through the campground (and skunks). All of Shenandoah gets very crowded on summer weekends. Arrive early to pick a campsite. If you are going in the spring, check the opening date carefully. We once arrived in early May assuming that Loft Mt would be open. We were wrong and had to drive back north to Big Meadows.
Have Fun! It brings back many fond memories of our "real" camping days.

I live just at the bottom of the mountain and have been to Loft many times. It is the nicest of the campgrounds and everything said above is true. Busy week-ends in summer. Check the weather if you go before May or into November. A few years ago, We went up to do Thanksgiving at the Skyland Lodge. Now usually in November it's just regular fall here but this crazy climate chaos had just begun to be seriously messing with "ordinary". there been some snow/ice a few days before but warmer weather had taken care of it all. As we got about 3/4 of the way up the mountain all of a suddent the tree limbs were covered with ice. As we got to the Skyline drive we found it closed. Too many downed tree limbs to clear and too small a budget to clear them.
Do be sure to call ahead in shoulder seasons. But you should have a great time. I'd love to come up and visit you but unless you are coming in the next 5 weeks,
I'LL BE GONE on my way to THE RALLY and beyond !!!
