Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are looking into the possibilities of camping on some of the islands in the puget sound, but are concerned that the cost of getting our 40 foot diesel pusher and tow might be cost prohibitive. Any ballpark numbers as to what it might cost?
We have ferried to the Outer Banks of NC. It was reasonable, especially since it was the only game in town to get there.
Passages could vary significantly with different ferry providers (state or private) and comparing our cost to what yours would be is somewhat meaningless. I would e-mail or call the ferry company and ask. NC ferries are on-line with schedules and pricing.
Good Luck! It was a hoot!!!

On this webpage Washington State Ferries has its fares in a .PDF file - http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/fares/. For a 40' motorhome to Friday Harbor it would be $199.25 round trip just for the motorhome in off season (now) or $269.00 in Peak Season (extended summer). A car with just the driver would be $39.85 round trip or $53.80 peak season, plus $11.50 each for any passengers. I assume you would drive the motorhome and car separately so both drivers would be included, otherwise you will probably be in the 60-70' range and paying more.
I suspect you just decided not to go.
Realize that even at these prices this is not the entire cost, the rest is paid out of the state budget. (But who knows how long since the state has budget problems).

WOW, Bill that backs up my statement of a comarison being meaningless. That would have made us take a diffeent route! Your experience is broader than ours.
